PINK HEARTS [ JACK x ZACH ]

— 12 years later

the two boys sat around the christmas tree with hot chocolates in hand. being 25 years old honestly hadn't got to them, as they still joked around like they were in grade school.

jack took a sip of the hot chocolate, but gasped loudly the second after, "why does hot chocolate have to be so hot!"

zach laughed, "well, i'd think hot chocolate was hot."

"oh shut up."

christmas was always special and happy day for them two. they got to spend it together, just carelessly fooling around and opening presents.

zach grabbed a small-squared box from under the tree and handed it over to jack with sweaty hands.

"jeez, why so nervous all of a sudden?" jack asked.

zach shrugged his shoulder, "i- i don't know. just open it!"

jack teared open the wrapping paper and stared at the box with wide-eyes. with his heart beating loudly, he opened the box to be met with a beautiful ring. it had a pink heart in the middle, surrounded with gold rhinestones.

zach took out a pink marker, the exact marker from when they were kids and handed it over to jack. jack took the marker in his hand and looked up at zach, happy tears flying down his cheeks.

zach got on one knee and held the ring, "jack robert goddamn avery, my soulmate. the one destined for me to love, hold, and care for. and god do i love doing every one of those things. you mean the absolute world to me, and i'm so glad you are the one i'm proposing to right this moment. your heart is pure and full with good, that i don't deserve. but the world brought us together for a reason. we're one of a kind, just like i told you in the stalls," jack had started to tear up,

"so, i, zachary dean herron, am asking you, jack robert avery, will you marry me?"

jack's eyes full of tears, he nodded and hugged zach tightly.

"i love you so much, yes, of course i'll marry you."

and just like that, their hands started to tingle. they looked down and saw a large, pink heart forming in the middle of their palms.

and as the book ends, their love doesn't. everlasting love is hard to find, but for those two boys it came naturally.
