Nicholae waited alone in the company of curious wolves. He'd expected a more hostile welcome from the famous wolves of Shepherd's Creek. After all shifters and vampires weren't exactly the best of allies in any period in history. Even now the treaty they'd created about a century ago was hanging on by threads.

This was why he figured that the wolves were calm because they were new to the valley and thus new to the politics of the valley.
Nicholae decided the wolves wouldn't be the problem, for all he knew, the wolves were didn't concern themselves with such things so it would be the Alpha, Osei Lynch who would be.

His reputation of being a no nonsense man and a psychotic killer had preceded him. It wasn't a reputation that Nicholae wanted to tangle with but he had to. His mission was so important that he was willing to walk into a den of ferocious wolves. ALONE.

Nicholae tilted his head to the side trying to figure out why a member of the Lynch clan was casually strolling around this camp. If his informants were correct, this Alpha has severed ties with the rest of the clan.
So why did he allow Cayden in his camp? True, he was one of the few wolf shifters born into the Lynch clan but there were others and they weren't here.

Cayden looked up and locked eyes with Nicholae. He slightly nodded his head in acknowledgment but his face told Nicolae he wasn't happy to see him in the camp.
He maybe associating his presence with bad news and he wouldn't be wrong in doing so.

Nicholae only smiled and waved in return. Cayden made his way to him but was promptly stopped in his tracks when a heart-stopping roar crashed into the camp.

The wolves were all on high alert but none of them moved.

Later Nicholae correctly guessed that the roar he'd just heard belonged to the Alpha by the way the wolves longingly looked at the trees. It was one of theirs, their Alpha so why weren't they rallying to his side?

'They've been ordered not to go to him. They are needed here.' Cayden informed him.

'What's happening?' He asked.

'Let's find out.'
Cayden didn't wait for Nicholae to decide, he took off to aid his stubborn cousin.

Nicholae followed and soon caught up. To his surprise, two other wolves were already ahead of them. A black one and a white one.
Could they be rogues? Because they were blatantly disobeying orders.

The events before Nicholae seemed to unfold in slow motion. The two wolves ripped the heads of the creatures in mid air and two more died before either wolf hit the ground.

Nicholae saw someone fleeing the scene from the corner of his eyes and quickly went after him.
That has to be a vampire. Either that or some other supernatural because he was damn fast and Nicholae struggled to catch up.
But since he was openly running into vampire territory the probability that he was a vampire was great.

Nicholae crossed the runner's path. Standing face to face, it was then he realized that was no vampire or shapeshifter.

'Who are you?' He asked.
No response was given.

Nicholae tried once more.
'I am of house Tskovosky. And I demand you answer me. What is your name and from which region are you from?'

The man tried to ran again. But Nicholae reacted just in time to pin him against a tree.

'Who sent you? Are you working with the demons?'
This was getting frustrating.

The next best thing? Compulsion.

Nicholae concentrated on lacing his words with the only magic vampires could use so powerfully. His looked directly into the eyes of the stranger and tried to establish a connection.
