(This chapter is going to be Ethan's point of view of the birthday party. Just so there isn't any confusion)

ETHAN POV

The sight of her was breath taking. I loved the way Emma looked when she was just waking up, her hair in a messy bun and an over sized t shirt. But, there was something about the way she looked dressed up that made me want to get her her undressed.

I ran to her and lifted her into my arms. "Happy birthday." It was all I could say, my mind was still processing how amazing her legs looked in that dress. She smiled down at me, meeting me halfway with a kiss. I didn't want to put her down, but we had an audience. An audience that she didn't know included her parents.

Grayson ran up to hug her, much to my annoyance and he went on and on about how much of a hard ass I had been about planning the whole thing. "Alright I think that's enough." I shoved my brother away hoping to get some alone time with Emma before I lost her to her parents. "I hope this okay I know you were looking forward to a quiet night in."

Her eyes widened and she placed a reassuring hand on my shoulder. "Are you kidding me? This is...this is...thank you." She wrapped her slender arms around me, holding me tight. Every doubt I had leading up to tonight had washed away after seeing the smile on her face and feeling her body against mine. Everything was perfect.

"Well I really hope you have fun tonight." I said, breaking away from the embrace. "Go say hi to your parents I'll catch up with you later."

I didn't want her to go, but I knew how much her parents meant to her and I wanted her to spend as much time with them as possible before they had to leave. She gave me a small frown, but in the end she nodded and agreed to go.

"Oh and Emma," I caught her wrist just as she was walking away and pulled. I tucked a curl behind her ear, letting my fingers graze her neck. When I was inches away I whispered in her ear, "you look in credible tonight."

I would be sure to show her just how incredible she looked when we got a moment alone.

"This is Hayes, Sammy, and Cameron." I said pointing to the group of boys that had taken over Emma's couch.

"It's nice to meet all of you, Ethan has told me so much about you. Thank you for coming to celebrate with us." She smiled, taking my hand in hers. I was grateful for her lie, I hadn't been seeing much of my other friends lately. All I needed was her, Gray, and James. Everyone out of our little circle had ceased to exist.

"Emma let me get some pictures of you before I forget." Bryant joined us, camera in hand as usual. "You don't mind if I steal her away for a little bit, do you?"

"Not at all. Take all the time you need." I gave Emma a kiss and watched her walk out to the balcony with Bryant. Watching her laugh and pose for pictures brought a smile to my face. Someone that beautiful deserved to be photographed.

"Hey stranger." A voice whispered in my ear. A voice I hadn't heard in years. One that I hoped to never hear again.

"Meredith?"

"What the hell are you doing here?" I asked, slamming the door behind me.

"Someone doesn't look too happy to see me." She smirked, walking over to Emma's bed and taking a seat. Her actions made my blood boil. I didn't want her near Emma or any of her things. That was the bed we shared together, I didn't need her tainting it. "When Sammy said you were having a party I was sure my invitation had gotten lost in the mail."

"This party is for my girlfriend, Meredith." I shouted at her, emphasizing on the word girlfriend. "You can just come waltzing in here like you own the place."

"Oh come on, E. I missed you and you wouldn't return any of my calls. We used to have so much fun together." She walked over to me, crossing her arms over her chest. She looked at me with pleading eyes, the same look she would always give me when she wanted to get her way. Maybe it worked in the past, but I had nothing but anger towards her now.

"Do I need to remind you that you're the one who cheated on me?" I tried walking away, but she had me cornered. I need distance from her so I could think clearly. I needed to get her out of here without Emma seeing her. The last thing I wanted was for Meredith to ruin Emma's birthday after I had worked so hard to make things perfect for her.

"Oh come on, don't tell me you're still upset about that little kiss. We were young, I was stupid. It was just a silly mistake." She came closer, her face inches away from mine. "I know you miss me Ethan."

"I've moved on Meredith. You should too."

Seeing her brought a lot of suppressed emotions to the surface. There was a time when I missed her. When I wished she had never hurt me so things could back to the way they used to be. I wasn't that guy anymore, not since I had met Emma.

"Don't make me beg for you Ethan. I will if I have to. I want you back and I know you want me too." She wrapped her arms around my neck, pushing my face closer to hers. She had pinned my arms to my sides with her body. I didn't want to shove her, but I wanted to get as far away from her as possible.

"Meredith stop. I don't wan-" Her mouth was on mine before I could stop her.

"Oh." The door had opened behind us. Emma stood there looking hurt and defeated.

I was too late. Everything had been ruined and there was nothing I could do to fix it. Meredith pulled away, satisfied with herself.

"Emma wait." I pleaded, hoping she would give me the chance to explain myself. She turned quickly, shutting the door behind her.

"I'm assuming that was your girlfriend." Meredith laughed, running her thumb over my mouth to remove the trace of her lipstick.

"Get out."

"Ethan I..."

"Meredith I swear to God. Get the fuck out." I screamed, pushing her away from me. I no longer cared about hurting her. Just as she hadn't cared about destroying my relationship.

"Fine. You know where to reach me handsome." She pressed a kiss to my cheek and grabbed her purse, leaving me alone in Emma's room.

"Fuck!" I slammed my hands against the wall. I hit the wall repeatedly, knowing the loud music would drown out the noise. I needed destruction. It was the only thing that would help me get through this rage. But, I was an Emma's room. I doubted that she would ever forgive me, but I knew if I trashed her room she definitely wouldn't.

I grabbed my car keys and left. I had hurt her enough for one night.

(Early update. Didn't want to leave you guys confused for too long x hope this cleared things up)
