After all that's happened, after all I'd put him through, how could he still say that? That he still loves me? I thought gloomily. How could this tragedy end with something happy? Especially when all that's happened in my life has been so terrible?

But through the questioning buzz that was going through my mind like haze, I loved him, too. Loved the way he smiled, the way he talked, the way his eyes sparkled when he was with me, the way he could forgive my faults. The way he loved me no matter what came between us.

Not even discovering what I really am could repel him, whispered a forgiving voice inside my head.

I gave into him and his dark blue eyes that were searching my own as if he could see my soul if he looked hard enough. I stepped closer to him. As if he could tell I had surrendered, he closed me in with a circle of his arms.

Then, surprising me completely, he turned my head that was resting on his shoulder so my mouth was touching the soft skin on his neck. I tried to pull back but was still extremely weak from using all my remaining strength to fight those monsters off. So I stopped fighting with myself when his arms tightened around me.

"It's okay. Just stop being so stubborn for a while. I want you to. Plus, you need to get better." His voice echoed around my mind like a soft caress. And, slowly, I gave in as my will-power crumpled, and sank teeth into his flesh.



It broke me when he wasn't strong enough to survive the change...
