Deren could hear everything they said about him. Whether they said it to his face, or behind his back, he ALWAYS heard them. He heard their whispers, scoffs, laughs. He even saw all of the dirty looks they gave him. Every single one.

"HEY! Give me all your money or I'll beat your UGLY ASS!" Kai demanded.

Deren whipped his head around as a shiver ran down his spine. He was scared, but this has been happening every single day for months. He knew by now that struggling only made things worse. He sighed as he reached for his backpack to get his wallet.

"You try to pull anything funny, and you're DEAD." Kai, the bully, Threatened. "Got it?" Deren pulled his black, leather wallet out of his bag.

"You know I wouldn't, kai. You're my Friend." Deren exclaimed. Kai and his gang snickered.

"Since when?" he asked rudely. Deren looked up with a scowl on his face.

"Since KINDERGARTEN, Dumbass,"

"You take it back NOW, Faggot," Kai demanded.

"No," Deren stood up. "Remember when you were just a weak little kid and I chased off all of your bullies for you? When I helped you buy lunch because you were low on money? When I tutored you because you were failing math?" Deren asked.

"Shut up, fucker," Kai said, taking a big step towards Deren, his men following. "Make me."

Before Deren could even process what was happening, Kai threw a punch at Deren and blood trickled down his face. The hall was silent. Everyone, including Logan, the gossip, was looking at him.

"Ohhhh, just wait till I tell the headmaster!" She said.

"Teacher's pet"

"Goody two shoes" (she is not)

"Tattletail" The students murmured.

Deren opened his eyes but saw only red. thick blood dripped from his face onto his brown, low-cut boots. Just as Kai was throwing back his fist to punch Deren for the second time, Deren heard an unfamiliar voice behind him.
"Hey."

He turned around.
