Chapter 6: Late

"Beep Beep Beep!" Oliver heard the alarm clock.

It's 6:00 already? He thought. He wiped the sleepiness out of his eyes and yawned. He was too tired to get up. He looked down and woke up in an instant. He realized that Deren was lying on his chest, fast asleep. Oliver was blushing insanely. He sighed and smiled, gazing at the adorable sleeping elf. He looks so peaceful...I just want him to be with me forever.... He thought as he drifted off to sleep once more.

Oliver woke up for the second time that day. He looked down at Deren, who was still snuggling up to him. I love him so much... Oliver thought only half awake. Wait a minute...

Oliver then realized that it was 8:32- they were 2 hours late for school. Oh, SHIT! Oliver tried to calm down. He reached for Deren shakily. He caressed his cheek and caught himself petting down his fluffy, brown and green hair. He gently patted his forehead with his fingertips. He touched his eyelashes softly, which tickled, making him smile. He dragged his fingers down his face softly, stopping at his soft pink lips. Stay on task! Oliver reminded himself. He rolled off the couch, trying not to wake up the sleeping elf. He spotted a purple, velvet blanket on the chair across from where they were sleeping. He fluttered over to the blanket, picking it up. He looked back at Deren. I think I finally found a real friend. He thought, wrapping the small elf in the blanket. Deren was Curled up in a little ball, his hands close to his face. Oliver then realized how small and frail he was. Slightly taller than him, of course, but they were both small. Once he had made sure that Deren was nice and comfortable, he ran into his room to find clothes for the both of them. He picked out a baggy, white T-Shirt and black jeans- but blue jeans for Deren, just so nobody asked questions. He got dressed and approached Deren. He tapped his shoulder and sat on the floor so their faces were level. "Hey..." He whispered. Deren squirmed a bit. "We're late, come on," he said in a soft tone. Deren opened his glossy green eyes and saw Oliver. "Oh hello there..." he said, still half asleep. To Oliver, this was the cutest thing ever. Deren closed his eyes for about 5 seconds and slowly opened them again. "Late for what?" He asked sleepily.
"School," Oliver whispered back. "School?... what time is it?" Deren said, closing his eyes again. "Were really late, 8:40. "Well shiiiit..." Deren yawned, rolling off the couch. He picked up the T-shirt. "What the fuuuuuuck is thisss" He asked. "You can wear it if you want, I just thought maybe you didn't want to wear the same clothes."

"Wait.," Deren said waking up. "...Did we?..." Deren asked nervously. "I don't know, I was sleeping." Oliver said. "Anyway, Hurry up and get ready! Ima go make some toast!" Oliver directed. Deren stood up and stretched as tall as he could. He looked down at his pants, which where wrinkled and unzipped. Oh, god... What happened last night?

Deren walked in the direction which he assumed was a bathroom. He stopped in the middle of the hallway when he noticed something strange. At the very end of the long hallway, there was another golden picture frame. However, this one seemed more hidden than the last, because it was not in the living room, next to the other one. In this frame was a photo of a man, the woman from the last picture, and the child who Deren assumed was Oliver. He decided not to ask questions, and to just get ready.

He found his way to what seemed like a bathroom and threw on the outfit- strangely, it fit him well. Deren had no clue how Oliver owned clothes that fit him, considering the fact that they were much different in height. He cautiously exited the bathroom, walking back through the long hallway into the living room.
