Calum sat on the small cot that was in the cabin that he lived in. His cabin was only about 10 by 5 foot. He had a small wood stove, his cot, a small make shift dresser, and some pots and pans for what little cooking he did. He didn't have much of a base for feeding himself, picking the berries that he knew were eatable, catching small game, even managing to grow very few difference kinds of vegetables that normally the animals got to first. Calum's didn't mind much at times, they needed to eat and live too, though they could eat more of the vegetation around here then he could.
Calum knowing that he should go try and find some food, he pushing himself to his feet from the cot and grabbed is coat. Even with it being dark, and surely not safe, Calum always came out at night. It seemed safer, people didn't normally come into the woods as it was, but for extra precaution he came out when it was harder to see things.
Looking through the tree cover, he could see that it was a full moon, meaning that it was going to be bright out tonight. The animals would be out moving more tonight then normal. Knowing that there was more of a danger of going out tonight, Calum still left his small cabin.
Michael was still in his house sulking about how he screwed up his life. He always said the wrong thing without even realizing it until it was too late. He hated himself for that. Calum wasn't the one who needed to be normal, it was Michael. Calum knew how to be nice and all of that, Michael's words always came out as if he was being rude. He didn't understand why, they always just did.
"Michael? Michael, dude where in the hell are you?" Michael ignored the voice that echoed throughout his house, knowing that it was his friends or maybe some random family member. It wasn't like he cared. Unless it was Calum, he wouldn't care about a single thing again.
"God, when was the last time you showered, and washed your clothing? It smells like a dressing room after a show. What the hell man?" As Michael heard the American accent he knew that it was family. It was his uncle Alex. He still didn't move, or try to speak to the older man.
"Just saying, your dad asked me to come and watch you while he's away. So I brought Jack with me because you two always have liked hanging out together. We'll be in the living room when you want to not be dead. Also where's your dog?" Alex easily gave up on Michael, he knew how the teenager was. Alex had been around a lot, he was Michael's mother's brother, and was really one of the only family members on that side of Michael's family that still talked to him at least once a week. After Michael's mom died, everything in Michael's life changed, mostly in his family. His mother's side of the family blamed his father for her death because he couldn't pay for her hospital bills; then when he got a good paying job and wasn't around, they blamed him for not spending him with her before she died. Yes, everyone knew that Michael's mother was going to die, other then Michael. They kept it from him on his mother's wishes, but Michael had no knowledge of that, and he most likely never will. His father wanted it that way.
"The dog is outside." Michael uttered into his pillow, making it hard to understand the wording.
"Ollie would have barked and try to attack me, he did not. So tell me that your dog is outside." Alex turned to Michael, he had known exactly what he said, after "pillow talking" most of his own life, he has learned the language.
Michael lifted his head from the pillow slightly, turning it to look at his uncle standing next to his dresser. "He's in the woods. He's looking for Calum." Michael had meant to say that last bit in his head, but Alex heard it, and his eyes widened.
"You met the forest boy?" Alex asked.
"You know about the forest boy?" Michael answered back with his own question.
"Your mom told me about him, I even saw him once. She told me to leave it and never talk to you about it unless you met him yourself."
"Well, I met Calum. He's cool. You know, until you kiss the boy scaring him, and then not meaning to insult him because you can't say a single word without it coming out as an insult. And then he leaves, you sulk, and your dog goes out looking for him. How does that sound?" Michael bluntly and vaguely explains what happened to his uncle as he sat up in his bed. Michael worried, about both Calum and Ollie, but his brain and body was still in a sulking state, it didn't want to kick in and tell him to run out of the room and to find two of the most important things in his life.
"Michael, get this through your head right now, your dog went looking for the guy that you have known your whole life, the guy that you love; and your just sitting here sulking because you're to stupid to go out there and apologize to Calum because your scared, and hurt. But you hurt yourself because you hurt Calum. Your fucking dog went out there looking for that kid because he was worried about you Michael. Now you need to get up and go out there yourself and look for both of them. Now." Alex was annoyed with his nephew, but he knew that he couldn't push him too hard. He just wanted to do what his older sister told him to do.
Help Michael realize who he really is.
