"Thanks for dinner," I munched down the last bit of spaghetti and dashed towards the sink before washing my plate like it's a time trial.

"That's so fast!" Mom exclaimed, pointing at her plateful of spaghetti.

I smiled and continued to wash the plate. "I was just really hungry, really."

The new year's vibe still lingers in the house. The atmosphere from last night hadn't disappeared yet. I could still hear fireworks being played all night outside. Though not as spectacle as it was 20 hours ago, but still beautiful enough to admire.

The Christmas tree in the living room is still sparkling with lights and unwrapped boxes lying below. Rath finally got his new sneakers he's been dying to have. Mom gave Dad a sweater she knitted herself. You could see scars she got from knitting on her hands and fingers.

Dad gave Mom a very gorgeous necklace that has her name on it. I could the sparkles on her eyes when he wore it on her.

What about me? I didn't ask for anything, although I did got a new scarf that Mom had knitted for me. It was cute, pink in color and has my name written in it with such a cute font. Then what's my Christmas gift you ask? Why of course, it's Nichol.

I still remember that night exactly a week ago, during that Prom night where we both danced to the slow waltz all night long. You kneeled during mid dance and a friend of yours tossed a bouquet of roses at you. You caught it and extended to me.

"Luna, I've been keeping it to myself all this time and I think it's time for me to tell you how I really feel about you. My intention tonight wasn't only to take you out to prom because you told me you've never been into one. But my true intention is, to take you out to your first prom with me."

"I'm not good with words, neither am I with romantic gestures or anything. But one thing for sure, my feelings are true and honest to you. I love you Luna. I love you from the first time we met. Call it a fake love at first sight but the feeling I have towards you is genuine."

The waltz continued to play and everyone stopped dancing and clapped on instead. Gasping and shouting, taking pictures of the boy in suit kneeling down before a girl in red.

There, he said it once more.

"I love you Luna, would you be my girlfriend?"

My eyes teared up, not believing what I'm facing that moment. Everyone in the room continued to cheer and kept on exclaiming "Say yes!" as Nichol smiled as he waits for my answer. Dawn was recording with her phone on flashlight mode like others did. She punched the air as means of excitement and spirit. Was she planning this and playing along with Nichol behind my back? Damn you Dawn.

You made my fantasies a reality.

"Yes! Yes I want to be your girlfriend! I love you too Nichol!" I shouted. Nichol stood up and I leaped to his open arms that felt so warm. The waltz stopped and a slower tuned song turned on. The vibe went romantic and intimate. The sound of heart-melting saxophone filled the Hall as I continue to embrace the sensation of being in his arms.

Once a fantasy, now a reality.

I haven't told any of my family members about it. As far as I'm concerned, they would be either shocked or caught in disbelief, either way it's the same. Dad would probably freak out once he knows and turned into detective mode. Alternating between a highly trained detective and military dog, sniffing my tracks and Nichol's personal records and history.
Just Dad things.
