"Okay, Do you want me to book you an appointment with the sheriff?", Brenda answered from the other side of the line as I searched my mind for an explanation to what exactly I was planning on telling them.

"No", I responded shortly.
"I need you."

"Well I can book you in for Friday, if that's alright?", she said and I was impressed of how professional she acted. Especially after our meeting at the coffee shop..

"It's urgent. Can you meet me now? Please"

Brenda stayed quiet for a moment before answering, "Alright, I have some paper work to finish up, but we can meet up later", she finally gave in.

"Great! Coffee shop at six?"

"See you there" Brenda said and I hung up the phone.

My dark hair looked messy in the bathroom mirror as I tried taming it, by putting it in a low bun. I grabbed my bag from the floor before walking to the kitchen.

"I'm leaving mom."

"No you look beautiful", she was distracted as hell with her new cooking book on the counter and I rolled my eyes.

Beautiful? I had never thought of myself as anything other than just Luci. Boring brown eyes, the way to dark hair and a hand full of attitude. Did anyone think I was beautiful?

The gentle breeze touched my skin when I walked outside, wearing nothing but a purple t-shirt and a pair of jeans. After I tried these normal clothes my old dresses and skirts seemed, I didn't really know, less appealing?
I actually liked the way the fabric fitted perfectly around my curves, leaving something for the imagination. Hopefully someone else will appreciate me someday..

I felt the lump in my stomach grow as I got closer to the brew. Was it a horrible idea to tell the police? This small town makes it impossible to go out unnoticed which could mean that someone has seen me with Michael and then I could be accused as well. Agh, Over analyzing as usual..

When I arrived Brenda stood outside the shop, fidgeting with the hem of her black button up shirt, and I walked up to her with as much confidence my weak body could. Her face lit up as I touched her shoulder.

"Thank you for meeting me Brenda", I told her and smiled, she had some how made me calm within seconds.

"Do you want to go in or talk outside?", she asked and returned my smile.

"Let's go in. I'm pretty cold"

Brenda ordered another black coffee and sat down with me at a table in the left corner.

The brew was really cozy, it had small lights hanging over each table, blankets and cream colored walls. I wondered why I hadn't't noticed before.

"So, what was it you wanted to talk about?", she questioned and looked at me with her dark green eyes, searching for something.

"Luke", I said while still deciding on what to say after.

"I understand that it can be hard when a friend goes missing but me and my father are doing everything we can to find him"

"Your father?"

"I didn't tell you? He is the sheriff."

"Oh. Well, don't you have school?"

"Not right now, but I'm starting collage next year."

"So you're eighteen then?"

"Exactly. But back to Luke. What was it you wanted to tell me about him?", she changed the subject back and smiled kindly.

"I'm worried that he might not only be missing, that he is, you know..."

"Dead.", I finished the sentence and Brenda seemed strange, like she knew something I didn't. She smirked and took a sip of her hot drink.

"What makes you think that?"

"I don't know. It's mostly a feeling"
"Shouldn't we at least get some signs to where he is?"

"I understand your concern Luci but who would have the motive to kill a seventeen year old guy?"

Is she trying to get clues out of me?
I could only think of one person who would have the motive to kill Luke and it was only of matter of time before he killed someone again.

"You're probably right.", I nodded slowly.

I just couldn't get myself give out Michaels name, even though it was hanging at the tip of my tongue waiting to come out.

"I am sorry I dragged you here for nothing Brenda"

"Don't apologize. Its okay. But I do think you should go home and get some rest" We both stood up.

"We will find him Luci", she assured me one last time before we walked our separate ways. The only problem was that if they ever did, it wouldn't't be good news spreading across this town.

I thought for myself about how stupid one could be, I got myself into this mess and now I just lost my opportunity to get out. A heavy weight of guilt rested on my shoulders as I looked down at my feet. Pathetic. No wonder my mother don't pay attention.

For a moment I almost felt myself drifting back to the words written down at the paper from English class. The most important thing in life is to want yourself. I need to stop complaining and suck it up.

"Watch it", a harsh tone was heard as I bumped into someone.

"No you watch it", I said back and gazed up upon the guy at my side with a binder in his arms. Not again.

"I told you to leave me alone Michael!", I raised my voice and started walking agin but was brought back when he grabbed my hand and span me around, forcing me to look at him.

"You're feisty today Luci"

I snatched my hand back and let out frustrated breath.

"I'm sorry I have treated you bad recently, let me make it up to you"

"No thank you", I mumbled.

"You are coming with me to the silver mine."

"What?! No", I shouted as he dragged me te opposite direction to where I was headed.

"Did I ask?", he laughed beautifully which made me forget all the things I had worked on, regarding not being with him.
