Dianne was the original last Buswell child, until the surprised pregnancy came along 5 years ago, and Portia was born. She was 5 years old and was the cutest thing Dianne had ever seen. For strictly, Dianne had previously gone to get Portia so she was able to stay with her for the time on the show, to be a remedy for her and Joe. Unsurprisingly, Joe loves Portia. They had become very close so it was only natural that he offered to pay to cancel Dianne and Portia's original flights to go back home for Christmas and pay for new ones so they were able to go to the treehouse. "Portia, what would you like for tea?" Joe asked the small girl who was busy away playing with Lego. "I'm having pizza would you like to share?" She nodded her head.
"Joe will you play with me?" She asked him sweetly. Dianne smiled as Joe untangled himself from her and got to the floor to play with her sister. She videod them secretly. Di uploaded it to her story with the caption 'melts my heart'.
"Do you dance Portia?" Zoe asked the small girl.
"Yeah! Look what I can do!" The little girl jumped up and ran to a little area of clear space before completing a near perfect back handspring. Three adults in the rooms jaws dropped making Dianne chuckle.
"That's great baby, just don't do it on hard floor yet okay?" Her little sister nodded at her. "She's learning to waltz aren't you?"
"Yeah, I have a partner!"
"Who?" Joe asked.
"Billy! He's not very good yet." They all laughed at her. Billy was actually Portia's nephew but was slightly older than her at 6.
"He'll learn Portia. Maybe Joe could be your new partner!" Everyone's heart fully exploded as they videod Joe waltzing with Portia on his knees.
"Can anyone hear crying?" Alfie said. They were all settled on the sofa watching a Christmas film. It was 10pm so Portia had been in bed for a couple hours now. Joe listened carefully as he heard Portia's whimpers.
"It's Portia, I'll go check on her." He said as Dianne had also fallen asleep. He gently moved Dianne off his side as he got up to run to Portia. "Hey lovely, what's wrong?" He asked as he climbed up to Portia. "I had a bad dream!" Portia cried as she climbed onto Joe to cuddle into him. He rubbed her small back to comfort her. Joe was convinced that you could calm any Buswell by rubbing their back.
"What happened love?"
"I didn't get to see Di on my birthday." Joe smiled. He was very close with Zoe, but they were similar ages. Dianne and Portia were 24 years apart but loved each other dearly.
"I'll make sure that never happens okay? Would you like to come sit on the sofa with us for a little while?" The little girl nodded so Joe picked her up and carried her down. He placed her in the space between the two couples. "Portia had a bad dream so she's joining us for a while." Zoe literally cooed as Portia began sucking her thumb. This child was making Zoe very broody.
"We have Portia for a couple hours whilst Joe and Dianne have a massage isn't that right?" Alfie said to Portia as he filmed her.
"Yeah, then we're going to the pool." Portia said proudly.
"We are."
"Joe said he will swim with me." Portia always used an opportunity to talk about Joe.
"Is Joe your best friend?" Zoe asked in the background.
"Yeah! Dianne's my best sister but Joe is my best friend, he always makes me Shepard's pie." The couple laughed at the tiny girl who just smiled away.
"Did you like Joe's dancing?"
"Mhm" she nodded. "I think Dot fancies Joe." In that tiny sentence, pure innocence and her strong Australian accent shined through. Alfie and Zoe laughed loudly.
"You know what? I think you're right."
"Joe you have to come visit me soon!" Portia cried as she was forced to leave her best friend in England.
"I will buddy don't worry. I'll come over very soon and we can go to the beach yeah?" He was on the floor as he held the child close. He never thought someone so little could have such an effect on him. "I've got to say bye to your sister now yeah? So stop crying, and I'll call you as soon as you've landed. And keep this secret safe but Di's really upset too and she needs you to make her feel better." The little girl nodded and gave Joe a big hug before stepping away so Joe could say bye to Dianne. He immediately embraced her. "Don't cry babe" he said as he held the back of her head. "It's ten days till you come back, and I'll be here, waiting." Dianne nodded and looked up.
"I'll miss you."
"I'll miss you also."
"I'll call as soon as I get there, and every night, gosh this is weird" Dianne laughed as a couple more tears flew down her cheeks. "She's going to be so upset when I have to leave Oz as well." Joe nodded.
"We will see her so soon I promise. But I love you so much, be safe yeah?"
"I promise. I love you too."
"Your instagram was very sweet also." Holly said to Joe as she interviewed him. Joe gave a little laugh. "Does she really mean that much? She's worth more than winning?"
"Oh yeah." Joe nodded. "For sure. I couldn't have done anything without her, and it's obvious how close we've become, I went from not knowing who she is, to her being one of if not the most important person in my life."
"That is so sweet." She said.
"But not only did you fall in love, you also got a new best friend, Diannes little sister." Phillip said.
"Oh Portia! Bless her she's the cutest thing." Joe said. "She was here practically the whole show and she was great, she's a little version of Dianne." He told them.
"She actually danced on the show didn't she as part of the group dance for Blackpool, she was amazing, and she's how old? 5?" Holly asked.
"Yeah she's 5, but she's amazing, all her and Dianne do together is dance."
"Is it safe to say she'll be visiting again soon?"
"Oh for sure."
