CHAPTER 9

The next morning, I get ready for class and straighten my hair instead of curling it. It's different but I'm feeling different today. I want to see how things play out with Cole. I like him and he likes me.

My first three classes pass by quickly and Cole is waiting for me at the door.

"Hi gorgeous." He says and gives me a small kiss on the cheek.

"Hi." I smile up at him. We start walking to my class.

"Listen I wanted to see if you wanted to go to get some food after class?"

"Yeah of course. Call me after class?"

"You bet." He shoots me a dimpled grin before walking off.

I walk into class and James is sitting next to Reese, instead of next to me. I sit through class and try to ignore the fact that he hasn't tried to talk to me. I turn to Reese, "So how was the big date?" I wiggle my eyebrows at her.

"It was great, she's really nice, it's almost unsettling. But I like it, it's cute." Her face lights up when she talks about Alex, the same way Alex's face lights up when she talks about Reese.

"She told me she really likes you." I tell her with a smile and watch as she smiles back. "She also told me you convinced her to sneak into like three movies, so don't go perverting my roommate you little delinquent!" I playfully scold her.

"Yes ma'am." She salutes me. "What about you? How was your date?" I decide to give her the short version, I'll tell her the details later.

"It was nice, we're going on another one tonight."
I see James' jaw clench, but he doesn't say anything. I find myself wishing he would, but what do I expect? For him to tell me he has feelings for me and beg me not to go? As if that'll happen.

"Ooh someone's an eager beaver." She teases. "I'm kidding, but tell him to keep it in his pants." She laughs, and I turn red.

Once class is over, I start walking towards my dorm. I walk passed James talking to a bunch of guys, he sees me and starts walking towards me. Oh no, I keep my eyes straight as he walks next to me.

"So what? Now you won't even look at me?"

"What do you want James? I don't wanna fight with you anymore?" I say exasperated. We reach my dorm, and I walk in.

"I don't wanna fight, aren't you gonna let me in?" He smiles at me. It always throws me off when he smiles cause he looks so beautiful it nearly takes me breath away. He softly pushes past me as I'm staring at him.

He turns on the small tv on my wall and sits on my bed against the headboard. He pats the spot next to him, gesturing for me to sit with him.

"I can't, Cole is gonna pick me up soon." His eyes lower, and he looks like he's about to say something but decides against it.

"Cool, now come sit Dell, we can hang until he gets here. It's not like you have to get ready, you already look perfect." My heart swells at the compliment.

I really shouldn't but I can't deny that every fiber of my being is screaming at me to go sit next to him. I hesitantly walk over and sit as far away from him as I can manage. There's only so far we can be on a twin size bed. The hairs on my arm stand up just from being so close to him. I try to scoot away and I can see him smirk. Being close to him messes with my judgement, I scoot a little further and end up scooting right off the bed. I fall flat on my ass.

"Jesus Christ Dell I wasn't going to fucking bite you." He laughs loudly. Even I can't help myself and I laugh along with him. He has such a beautiful laugh, I wish I could hear it more. He helps me off the floor and my hand feels perfect in his. I quickly pull it away and sit back down on the bed, this time closer to him.
