Once I finished eating I walked to the room I'd only have for the week, Maybe less.
I heard a knock at the door. I got up to open when I heard the person knock again.
"What?" I snapped.
"Can we talk?" Virgil asked as he looked like he was going to have a panic attack.
"Uhh sure I guess." I let him in the room. He sat down on the bed and I sat on the other side of the bed. I stayed far away from him.
"I heard the voice..." he spoke. "You know we won't give up on you." He said. I laughed at this. "What?" He raised an eyebrow at me.
"That's what the others said. Now look at me. There's no hope that I'll ever be in a home from more than a week! It's hopeless." I sighed at the end and looked at my floor.
"You'll always be alone." The voice spoke.
"You shouldn't believe the voice. It's lying. We won't give up on you no matter how much you try or do. Thomas and Patton doesn't have the heart for that." Virgil paused. "Plus Logan was looking forward to teaching you. Roman was looking forward to teaching you how to fight so you can defend yourself." I looked over at Virgil. He was smiling at me. "And me, I was looking forward to help you with your anxiety."
"I-I... can you not tell the others about the voice.. I've always had it but it comes and goes whenever I'm adopted again."
"Okay, can you promise me something?"
"Sure?"
"That you'll come to me if you're ever thinking about..." Virgil paused afraid to say those words.
"Yeah... yeah I'll come to you as long as the others never find out."
"KIDDOS! COME ON!!" We heard Patton scream.
"Huh? Do you know what that's about?" I asked.
"I don't know. Come on." We both walked out of my room.
"What is it?" I asked.
"We have a surprise for you!" Patton smiled. "We picked this up for you!" Patton held out a gift. It was wrapped with a sky blue colour. I took the gift carefully and looked at them all. The smiled sweetly at me.
"Go on," Virgil said from behind me.
I opened it up to see a hoodie. I held the hoodie on my hands to see the design.
There was a storm cloud with a lighting bolt, a brain with glasses, a heart with glasses, and a crown surrounding a star. Under all of the symbols I saw my name. 'Galactica' I was surprised at this.
"Do you like it?" Patton asked. I looked up to see their smiles.
'No one has ever...' I smiled, the first one in a while. "I love it." I said, hugging the hoodie.
"YAY!! Roman good job kiddo!" Patton said smiling as wide as ever.
I've only been here a day but... maybe they won't send me back..
I glanced at the hoodie once more and I felt tears welling in my eyes but the smile was still on my face.
I felt a hand on my shoulder reassuring me. I looked up to see Virgil smiling down at me.
'Will they be the first to keep me?' I thought about this for the rest of the day.
