A/N - This entire chapter is in the point of view of Garroth's character, Raven. I used to make O'khasis Online a virtual reality game, but that didn't work out like I wanted it to and this way is just easier.

BTW, "Raven" and Laurance's name are more like screen names. They have normal usernames with numbers and stuff, but this is what other players see above their avatars.

And, in case you want to see how I pictured the characters' online avatars (because I suck at imagery), Garroth and Laurance are at the top. Garroth is on the left, Laurance is on the right.

Just wanted to clear some things up. Thank you!

Welcome, Player_one1234

The plaza is as busy as always, travelers coming from all over to buy weapons and other supplies from the merchants here. The sun is warm overhead, a gentle breeze occasionally blowing through; it's a great day to be out doing things.

I wait over by an empty merchant's stand for my friend, Ungrth, who's supposed to meet me here soon. Knowing him, he would be using the teleportation orb to get to my location quicker.

"Where in the world is he?" I mutter to myself. Letting out a soft sigh, I lean against the stand and wave my hand to make the holographic menu pop up.

First thing that pops up is the character menu, showing a reflection of myself like a full-body mirror. I do a quick check to make sure everything's right.

Spiked blonde hair shoots out from my head, a small part laying across the right side of my forehead.

A sky blue jacket sits on top of a grey shirt with a black cross on it. The sleeves of the jacket are folded up to about my elbows.

Looks about right, I think when, just as expected, a small hexagon appears in front of me.

Player_two5678 would like to teleport. Do you accept?

It only takes a few seconds after I accept the request for Ungrth's body to form in front of me. He grins wide, showing off his jagged teeth.

"Took you long enough," I tease as he just rolls his eyes.

"I couldn't remember where I put the orb."

"You have that bag for a reason," I say, gesturing to the dark brown sling bag hanging across his body. He eyes it briefly and shrugs.

"Whatever." He pushes his long, dark green hair out of his eyes and glances around. Strange color choice, yeah, but most of the time, it just looks dark brown. It's barely noticeable, which, I think, was what he was going for.

He wears a sleeveless, brown jacket, usually unzipped to show off his fit, shirtless body. A pine green scarf rests snugly around his neck and shoulders along with a wooden wristband on his left wrist.

"So-" He leans against a nearby tree, "what's the plan?"

"Well, for starters..." I wave my hand and another hexagon pops up.

Add player_two5678 to your party?

Yes.

The message disappears and reappears in front of Ungrth. He smirks and accepts, making it vanish instantly. He glances back up at me.

"Do you have enough items for the first dungeon?" I question and he opens up his inventory, taking a quick scan of it.

"Looks like it." He shrugs and closes it. I roll my eyes.

"You just love to wing this stuff, don't you?"

He grins mischievously: "I like living life on the edge."

"We both know that's a lie, but okay." I smile back and stroll past him. "Well, come on. We've got stuff to do."

"Right right." He picks himself off of the tree and steps up beside me. "I wanna be done with these beginner dungeons as soon as possible. I can't stand all these wooden, flimsy materials."

"I know what you mean." I bring out my own wooden sword from my inventory. Cracks in the blade, hilt barely holding on, it's a nightmare to look at. Especially if you're like us who have been doing this kind of thing for years now. Starting all the way from the bottom is always such a pain.

"Oh! Re-gens! Might need a few of those," he suddenly exclaims as I put the sword back. He looks at me. "Need a couple?"

"Nah. I bought some potions the other day. I'll wait back here."

"Alright. This shouldn't take too long."

We both know that's a huge lie and that he doesn't even need them anyway. Those re-gens only give you back, like, five HP. The only reason he's going to that merchant stand is to flirt with the guy selling the stuff.

I sigh. He does this all the time.

Idiot...

I'm about to open up the map to see where this dungeon is, when a girl comes racing into the plaza and nearly crashes right into me. Luckily, I'm able to grab her arms and keep her steady so she doesn't topple over.

"You okay?" I ask her and she glances up with this sheepish look on her face.

She's about a foot and some shorter than me with long, dark purple hair tied up in high pigtails on either side of her head. Her bright purple eyes shine straight into mine as she stumbles over her words in, what I assume, is probably embarrassment.

"I-I...yeah! I-I'm fine! Thanks!" she squeaks, a pink blush spreading quick across her cheeks.

I let go of her arms and she steps back some. She has on a sleeveless, purple cardigan on top of a silver breastplate. Dark brown straps trail down her legs from her light purple shorts, ending at her black boots.

"Uh..." She twiddles with her fingers, which protrude out of her black, fingerless gloves. "S-Sorry for running into you like that. I'm...kind of new to this MMO thing a-and I wasn't sure if the market was gonna r-run out of stuff I need."

"It's okay," I tell her, smiling kindly to settle her obvious nerves. "The merchants are rarely ever out of items, so you don't have to worry about that. If they are, they're restocked by the next day."

"O-Oh. That's good to know." She laughs anxiously. "Thanks, again."

"No problem. I'll see you around..." I glance up at her name. "...Divine?"

She blinks, as if registering what I've just said: "Oh, right! Yeah! S-See you...Raven..."

I step aside and watch as she wanders into the marketplace. I smile. It's always fun to watch the newbies get a hang of all that's going on.

"Whatcha staring at, blondie?"

I look over to see that Ungrth has rejoined me, smirking questionably at me.

"You get his number?" I ask, teasingly, and he rolls his eyes.

"I dunno what you're talking about." He gestures back to the plaza. "So, you gonna answer my question or what?"

"Newbies," I respond simply and he just chuckles in understanding.

"Always easiest to pick out, huh?" He stretches his arms out in front of him. "Welp, we heading to that dungeon yet?"

"If you're done with your horrible flirting."

"You're just jealous 'cuz I do it better."

"Whatever you say." I grab the collar of his jacket and drag him away from the market. "Now, come on, casanova. We've got a dungeon to conquer."

"Aye aye, captain."
