Level 1

"Behind you, Ungrth," I warn and he spins around, stabbing a spider in its many eyes with his wooden sword. It disintegrates in a cloud of smoke, leaving behind a small money bag.

"Thanks." He stores it away.

"Yeah." I sigh. "I hate having to start from the bottom like this. I wanna get to the good dungeons."

"At least they're bearable for now. I'd rather not be ambushed by a million zombies at once."

"True. Still."

"You're so impatient." He rolls his eyes playfully and strolls ahead, locking his hands behind his head.

"Right, like you're any better."

"Hey!" he shouts in fake offense, smiling anyway. "Eh, you've got a point, I guess."

"I know you." I catch up to him. "We've never gone through a single town without you complaining that you 'wanna do something fun for once'."

He shrugs with a smirk: "Not my fault all you ever wanna do is train."

"And it's not my fault you're such a flirt."

"A hot flirt."

"No one has ever said that about you ever."

"You'd be surprised."

"Sure."

Sunlight shines in from ahead, so I put out my torch and store it back in my bag.

"Well, that was easy," Ungrth remarks, lowering his hands.

"No kidding. There's a limit to the lower level dungeons. Higher ones have better enemies, bosses, and loot."

"Don't lie; you just wanna fight shadow knights."

I shrug: "They're cool. What else do you want from me?"

"One track mindset."

I shove him in the arm.

"Shut up."

Okay, little background here. There's at least one dungeon for every level; all the way from 1 to 100. The dungeons get more difficult the higher you level up, obviously, but the enemies stay the same until you reach the boss room. Then, you move on to the next ones.

For example, we just finished the level one dungeon, which means we have to gain another level before we can get to two. Once we beat the boss at level ten, we move on to the next dungeons, which adds another enemy we have to defeat. I believe the next one adds in imps.

"Ah, sunlight. My kryptonite. I'm going back in the dungeon."

"No you don't." I smile as I grab him from his jacket, preventing him from escaping the brightness. "Come on, let's head back to the market. We could probably get some better items now."

"You're the boss." He frees himself from my grip. "Lead on, captain."

-Time Skip-

"You got everything?" I question as he strolls back over, hand on his bag.

"Yup. We're set for life."

"Not yet, but we're getting there."

"We going to train for a bit for the next dungeon?"

"Unless you've got a date waiting."

He smirks: "I can make some time."

"Sure." I roll my eyes. He steps forward and slings an arm around my shoulders.
