Fury makes no hesitation in accepting the duel requirements. Immediately after, the countdown begins.
Five...
The other two do not look as confident as their leader. Nekoette's staff is shaking in her grip and Divine is frantically looking around her, as if the answer to her problems is somewhere in the forest.
Four...
They both look to Fury for guidance. She gives them each a look which obviously means something. Their nerves instantly relax.
Three...
A silver dagger appears in Divine's grip.
Two...
Fury slips an bronze dagger out from her belt and summons a iron sword in her other hand.
One.
In a split second, Fury dashes to the four. Nekoette waves her staff and a blue circle surrounds the clearing.
A barrier.
Divine is nowhere to be seen, which is interesting. I never saw her leave.
Shadow wastes no time blocking the bluenette heading for him. He holds up his iron sword, signalling for the other three to take out Nekoette. I'm not sure how experienced she is with magicks, but she could definitely become a problem for them if she knows what she's doing.
Snake and Nether nod before directing their attention towards the girl. Nether races over, an iron dagger in her grasp, while Snake hangs back. Nekoette mutters some incoherent words and a glowing, purple ball shoots from her staff. Nether rolls away from it, continuing her advance. The ball continues on, passing Snake, then hitting an unprepared Arrow in the chest. He stumbles back, then goes to fire an arrow, when he realizes his entire quiver has disappeared.
I blink. It was there two seconds ago. Where did it go?
Fury's still harassing Shadow with her weapons. She attempts to catch his blade with her dagger, but it's almost as if he knows her every attack before she makes it. He slams the hilt of his sword into her, but she recovers quick and charges back in.
Arrow jumps in, now without a bow, and fights beside Shadow with a matching iron sword. Fury doesn't seem fazed in the slightest.
Nekoette's holding her own pretty well against Nether and Snake. They continuously try to overtake her, but get pushed back by her magicks. The two don't really seem to know how to work as a team.
Though, there's still no sign of Divine.
Nether charges back in, shoving her teammate out of the way, a blood red rage in her cold violet eyes. Her knuckles turn white on the grip of her dagger as she dashes toward the pink-haired girl. Nekoette raises her staff, launching another ball of magicks at her. The rushing girl rolls underneath it, slashing with her dagger--
And a sudden burst of wind rocks the surrounding trees, vanishing as sudden as it started. Nether hits the grass, inches from Nekoette. She scrambles to her feet, raising her arm once again, before realizing her dagger has disappeared. She stares at her empty hand, baffled, when Nekoette uses the distraction to whack her on the head with her staff. Nether topples, once again, to the ground.
There's a thud from the other end of the barrier and I watch as Arrow falls, his sword nowhere to be seen. Fury only lets a small smirk slip before swiping at Shadow with her blades. Shadow doesn't flinch and blocks her move with ease.
The countdown turns red, signalling only a minute left to the duel. Ungrth gives me a look from his branch and I nod in agreement.
No doubt about it, they're good.
