She missed. Well she wasn't surprised but she still felt disheartened.
"It's just dark" she mumbled, as she fumbled to reload it.
"Excuses, excuses" Darren said in a sing song voice as he smirked.
"Hm, I believe I just heard an excuse to shoot you" she retorted, giving him that sarcastic smile again.
He raised his hands as if in surrender and gestured her to continue practicing.
Jasmine took in a deep breath, focusing her mind on the aim and the shot.
She raised the pistol again, really trying to focus as she once again pulled the trigger.
It wasn't as bad as the first one, slightly clipping the scarecrows arm. She repeated the same thing for what felt like hours, but she was getting more and more frustrated by the second.
She wanted to keep practicing all night and refused to go to bed before Darren wrestled the gun from her, narrowly missing a shot and carrying her to the cabin.
Before he left he made sure to take the gun with him so she couldn't sneak out and use it.
"Goodnight" he smiled as he left as she sat there with her arms crossed, refusing to look at him. Yet as soon as he left, the tiredness hit her and she fell into a deep sleep. She was shaken awake as the sun shone through the huge window. She opened her eyes drearily to see the captain's smiling face.
"Hey, sorry to wake you but we've just reached land" he apologised but his smile remained, "just quickly get ready, I'll wait for you outside" he stood up and briskly walked out.
She jumped out bed in an instant, throwing off her plain brown top and putting on the dark blue one and her brown trousers, she rushed to put on her boots and whispered a quick goodbye to the kitten before running out.Darren had kept his promise and waited for her.
"Not taking the little creature with you?" He asked, realising she didn't have the kitten.
"No, because I'll be coming back" she stated, smiling as she watched her feet. She could almost feel the happiness radiating from him next to her.
"I've got some buisness to do here, and I can't really have you coming with me" he started to say, "just meet us back here in roughly an hour and a half, I can have some crew members come with you if you'd like" he offered but she shook her head.
"I'm sure I'll be fine, I'm not a child" she said back, "but what're you doing hm? Why can't I join you then?"
"If I wanted you to know, I would let you come with me, but oddly enough I've said you can't so" he put his hands in his pockets and chuckled to himself. Jasmine looked up at him, eyes narrowing as she tried to figure out what he was hiding.
He abruptly stopped and she paused as well, turning to him.
"Now before I go, take this back" he handed her her pistol, "but don't shoot anyone... unless they have it coming to them" he told her, grinning.
She smiled back and he finally stepped away, quite a few of the crew mates following him.
She set off in her own direction, looking for anything that might interest her. The town was actually quite busy, with crowds of people bustling about and raucous shouting. She put her hands in her pockets and nearly jumped. Her fingers brushed against the cold steel of some coins. She shook her head in disbelief as a smile spread across her face. She didn't know when he'd snuck in some coins but he had. But now her eyes darted from shop to shop, as she made out a plan of where she was going to go.About an hour later, she had a little less coins. But now she'd decided the shopping was done, and was making her way back to the port and the ship she once couldn't stand to be on. It'd quietened down slightly, not by much, but it had. She wanted to make sure she was definitely there on time, yes she'd told him that'd she'd be coming back, but would he leave if she wasn't there on time, thinking she'd changed her mind? So she was walking at quite a brisk pace, dodging through the crowds. Luckily she roughly remembered her way back and she wasn't too far away.
But suddenly strong arms wrapped around her from behind. She couldn't move and she was starting to panic. She was about to scream but they covered her mouth and lifted her off the ground, carrying her into a dark alley."Let me go!" She screeched at them, "I need to be somewhere!" She told them, but they were having none of it. They stayed silent until they finally stopped. They dropped her onto the cobble pavement but she couldn't get up, they blocked both open sides so she couldn't escape.
"Look, I don't know why you've taken me but I just need to be somewhere" she told them again, she was extremely scared and didn't know what to do.
They ignored her and she was about to scream but something made her freeze.
She heard heels tapping across the ground towards her and she tried to look at them but it was too dark.
The person kneeled in front of her and lit a match, holding it in front of their face. It was a complete stranger, she had tanned skin and long dark brown hair.
"What do you want from me!?" She spat at them, trying to stand up but the stranger pushed her back down.
"Where do you need to be?" Her voice was sharp, and she turned her head as if curious.
"Well, I just- I have a ship to catch" she told her, completely shaken.
"So we get you to your ship, but we're not letting you leave" the woman stood up whilst Jasmine became extremely confused. She ordered the two men to carry jasmine again as they made their way to the port. But then a thought struck her.
"I won't let you hurt any of them" she stopped wriggling and managed to dig her feet into the ground, pulling her arms away from the men holding her.
"You can't" she took a step back and pulled her pistol from her belt.
