Jasmine sprinted through the door into the Captain's cabin.
"A-a-another s-s-ship!" She managed to say, being out of breath.
He stood up quickly, eyes scanning her face, he seems to believe her when he raced to the door "Stay here. Do not leave." He told her and slammed the door after him, not out of anger but out of panic.
She heard his muffled shouting, calling to the crew to rise from their crude hammock beds.
She started to begin to shake and panic. She was terrified. She knew she had to stay, but everything inside her was yelling for her to escape. Jasmine sat on her ledge, knees up and began to rock. She tried to keep calm, breathing steadily. But it didn't work. She ran her hands through her hair, beginning to stress out. She started pacing around the room, there was no where she could escape through. Maybe the other ship were people who could take her away from here? She doubted it, seeing as they really were in the middle of the ocean and this was the first ship they'd seen in ages.

But then she heard the shouts and the clash of swords. It completely stopped her in her tracks and she stood frozen in fear, just like the day she'd been taken. There was slamming and the sounds of bodies hitting the hard wooden deck. Over everything going on she could just about hear the deep voice of the Captain, instructing people.
She hid in the corner trying to hide and make herself as small as possible.
She had never been in fear, her dad made sure of that. No one bothered her in any way. But now every single thing was different, and she couldn't do anything about it. She put her hands over her ears to try and block out the noise.
Suddenly a huge bang sounded through the room and she looked over in horror to see the captain falling backwards through the cabin door whilst battling a gruesome looking person.
Jasmine gasped and the unknown enemy heard her. He began to slink towards her with a horrid grin. She started to back away and scrambled from the corner but he got quicker and she hit a bookcase. Things tumbled down around her and she shut her eyes in terror. But no hit came, she opened her eyes to see that the Captain had pulled the man back and were now combating.
But the Captain was hurt, badly. He was putting all his effort into distracting the guy away from her. She wanted to help but she had nothing. She rummaged around on the ground, looking for anything. She picked up a huge book, about to throw it at the person. Until something fell out the back.
Jasmine scrambled around and grabbed it, aiming at the man. She closed her eyes and pulled the trigger. The gun shot rang out across both ships.
She kept her eyes closed, not wanting to look at what she might've just done. She just knelt there in the corner, tears falling down her face and the gun sliding from her hands.
Footsteps came toward her as warm hands gently wrapped around her wrists, steadying her. She opened her eyes to see a body on the ground and the captain in front of her, concern in his eyes.
But then his arms fell and he collapsed.
She gasped and held his face, trying to get some kind of reaction. Crew members rushed in, the fight over. They pushed her out of the way and tended to their beloved captain.
She was standing there, shaking in shock. She walked out the room and wished she hadn't. Bodies were everywhere, blood gushing across the wood. She looked at the body in the doorway of the cabin, a bullet hole going through his back. She had done that. She had killed someone. Taken the life out of a stranger just to protect someone she very strongly disliked.
She took a deep breath and steadied herself. She couldn't keep letting this happen to her, it was making her weak.

Jasmine walked back into the cabin to see the captain on her ledge, with fewer crew members round him.
"How's he doing?" She asked as she walked over, trying to see past the people.
"We've tried our best, we now just have to wait" One informed her. After what had happened earlier, the crew had became less hostile towards her, after all, she'd saved their captains life.
"Just sit with him, tell us if he wakes us" another one told her and they both got up.
"Lots of bodies to clean up" The first one grumbled as they left. Jasmine sat on the other end of the ledge, being able to because of her fairly small size. She put her head on her knees and just looked at him. She'd never seen him without his hat. But now she saw that he had light brown shoulder length hair with a bit of stubble on his face. It seemed like he was sleeping peacefully, despite having a huge bandage going round his stomach.
She moved her attention around and saw the pistol on the ground. She'd forgotten all about it because of shock. Jasmine carefully climbed over and quietly leaped to the floor, walking over to the scattered pile of books. A giant one was open, except it wasn't really a book. All the pages had a rectangle cut out in them, creating a gap through the entirebook. She picked up the pistol and gently placed it in the book and it fitted. It seemed that they wanted it hidden and it had been in there for a very long time (which she could tell from all the dust).

She heard a groan from behind her and she swivelled round to see the Captain trying to sit up.
"Don't do that!" She told him and ran over.
His face seared with pain and his breathing was sharp and uneven.
"You need to rest" She said, trying to get him to lay back down, "I'll be back in a second, I need to get help".
She started to move away towards the door when her arm was pulled back.
"Thank you" She turned to see that the Captain had ahold of her wrist once again and gave her a grateful smile.
She gave a small smile back and then left the room.
