"I'll repeat, I don't want a fight I just want the girl" her voice was menacing, and her eyebrows narrowed. The crew kept their sharpened swords pointing towards her as Darren spoke.
"Why?" He asked, "why does she matter to you?" Jasmine rarely saw him get this angry but now he seemed to be fuelled with fire, standing as the barrier between her and the enemy.
"Because we have orders, and our orders are to take her to the payer" her voice reached a growl as she took a step forward, "there are going to be some serious problems if you don't. She belongs to them now" she smirked at him as if she'd already won the battle.
But then there was silence. Darren seemed at loss, the cogs whirring in his mind as Jasmine watched him in horror. He couldn't seriously be thinking of giving her up!? She wanted to scream at him but instead her hands clenched around her pistols as she edged the door open, enough for her to slip through unnoticed.
"I can't let you take her, I won't" he spat, "how much has he payed you? How much do you want?" he was trying to reason with this stoned face woman.
"My life is in the balance here, it's her or nothing" she retorted, "I don't care how much money you have, and I'm sure you don't want to keep caring for a girl you have no use of"
"Now I have a question," a shout rang out from the back of the crowd and as all the faces turned to look at who had spoken they parted, forming a pathway, "am I allowed to have a say in my own fate?" Jasmine had now come face to face with the mystery lady, as if holding a staring contest but now the pirates couldn't tell who looked scarier.
Darren looks horrified instantly trying to get in between them, pulling Jasmine away, "Go back, we can figure this out without you" he suggested, although treading lightly so as not to offend her, but he failed.
"No! No, i'm nota child no matter how many times you treat me like one", she tried to shove him away as she shouted, "I won't just hide away as you come up with useless plans to keep me safe!"
The woman chuckled, looking wonderingly at Jasmine, "So, My Lady what do you happen to suggest?" She crossed her arms and had a smirk painted across her face.
"You lead us back to this buyer" Darren tried to interrupt at this point but was silenced by Jasmine, "all of us. You get your money, we meet the guy and then stop him from looking for us"
"Is that your way of saying kill him?" The woman rolled her eyes and continued, "but if it gets me my money then we'll do it. Deal?" She held out her hand but Jasmine paused - she knew it was her plan after all but could she be trusted? She shook her head, clearing her mind of the silly worries and grasped her hand declaring it a deal.
"My name is Carrie, and I'll tell you when we get near" she added before clambering onto the side of the ship as a plank was dropped down from the smaller ship, she nodded her hat at Jasmine before walking across and pulling the plank back.As soon as Carrie had gone, Darren grabbed Jasmine in utter shock. She was taken aback, staring worriedly into his face.
"What were you thinking!? You can't go to this person-you don't even know who it is!" He seemed to be on the edge of fury as he ploughed on, "he could kill you before we even get near him!"
"You don't think I've considered this!?" She argued back, pulling out of his grasp and stepping away, "if we don't do this then he'll be chasing after me for the rest of my miserable life! You don't have to like it, it's going to happen." She stormed past him, putting her pistols into her belt and taking her spot at the other end of the boat not wanting to go back to the cabin knowing Daren would probably have to go in there too. She didn't want to disappoint him but as far as she could see, this was their only choice and actually he didn't even need to be coming with her, she could've left with Carrie.
She ran her hands through her hair and sighed staring out at the distance where the other ship was as though slipping into the horizon.Slowly, she stirred in her sleep. Eyes blearily opening and closing as they adjusted to the bright sunlit sky. Her neck and back ached as she peered through her tired eyes to find she was still on the boat deck. She reached her arm up trying to grapple onto the mast as she yanked herself up and realised the crew was up and about, hard at work and the other ship was still ahead of them. But Jasmine near,y jumped when she felt something brushing against her ankles and as she nearly stumbled back, believing it could've been some sort of spider she took a big sigh of relief. It was the cat she'd rescued and had dubbed "Sylvester". She scooped up the tabby in her arms and marched across the deck to the cabin, to see if the captain was awake and as she gently pushed the door she saw he was awake, but wasn't alone.
