Right now it seemed to be me and Ashton against the world. Everyday I would stop by the hardware store to see Ashton. I had the best times of my life with Ashton and everyday was better than the first. He always told me how he loved me. I felt complete with Ashton. Everything was perfect, at least I thought it was.

I woke up this morning to a few texts from Ashton. I had no idea how he managed to get a phone but what can I say.

"Gooooood morning Mel!" one of them read.

"I love you xx" the one below it said.

"MELANIE RIDER ANSWER YOUR PHONE BABE :(" the last one said.

I laughed to myself self at his little good morning texts. The rest of my day was pretty normal until about 7:00 pm. At seven o'clock I heard a knock on the door. Calum.

"Ok listen if your here to yell at me just save it" I started.

"No Mel wait, just hear me out, ok?" Calum asked.

"Okay" I answered, reluctantly letting him in. Calum and I sat on the floor face to face.

"Melanie can we start over?" Calum asked shyly.

"Cal, are you sure? Because sometimes I feel like I'm ruining you and I don't want to be that person." I questioned confused why Calum would want anything to do with me.

"I'm one hundred percent sure Mel" Calum instantly replied.

"I'm so sorry" I whispered bringing Calum into a hug.

"Hey? Wanna go out tonight?" I asked, trying to lighten the mood.

"Where to?" Calum asked leaning back on his shoulders.

"Anywhere" I smiled.

"Sounds like a plan" Calum smirked.

"I'll be right back" I said heading up the stairs to go change. I walked into my room to change into my all black skirt and my Kurt Cobain t-shirt tucked into it, topping my outfit off with my combat boots.

"Wow Mel you look great" Calum remarked.

"Thanks" I said, flashing him a smile. We drove to a nearby liquor store and got what we needed. We continued driving until we arrived at a local train station nearby. Me and Calum came here all the time in high school. I opened the bottle and took a quick swig of it then passed it to Calum.

"This is great Mel" Calum sighed. We took a few more sips of the liquor and the night was growing later and later. I laid my head on Calum's shoulder and his dark brown eyes looked down at me making me smile. All of the sudden Calum's lips were on mine. Maybe it was the alcohol or maybe it wasn't but I was kissing him back, hard too. I reached up Calum's neck and tangled my hands in his hair. Calum's hands moved down my sides, deepening the kiss. When our lips parted neither of us said a word until I saw some blinking lights signaling a train.

"Cal look a trains coming!" I yelled, now full of adrenaline. I sprung up and ran towards the tracks.

"Melanie I don't think you should-" Calum tried to say but I wasn't listening. I was on an adrenaline rush. I finally got to the tracks and the train was only a few feet away, but something settled in and I couldn't move. Beads of sweat formed on my face and I was only seconds away from a panic attack. I was now face to face with a full-speed train and my knees were buckled and I couldn't breathe. In a swift motion I was pulled to the ground away from the tracks. I felt Calum underneath me and I tumbled off of him.

"What the hell Melanie!" Calum reprimanded. I couldn't speak. I sat on the gravel panting, trying to catch me breath.

"Calum I'm-" I started but then my phone buzzed. 10 unread messages from Ashton. I had totally forgotten about Ashton. This was such a mess, I was such a mess.

" I have to go make sure Ashton knows I'm okay" I breathed. I stumbled up and ran off to the hardware store to find Ashton.

CALUM'S P.O.V

I hated myself for caring so much. But it needed to stop. I just saved the girls fucking life and not even a thank you.
