This week had been busy. He'd had no time to check on her.
She and her father had moved into the old quaint house next to that national forest. He'd already seen her new room way before they'd moved, just to make sure it would be safe enough. Nothing at this point in her life was safe enough anymore, and he could not leave her out of his sight like he'd had to do this week. He would always be watching. So far, things were alright. He couldn't sense any of the others in the area and although Ketchikan, the town she and her father now lived in, was a popular area, nothing dangerous seemed to be threateningly close.
He was standing on the soft snowy forest bed, scanning the little cream house from a safe distance between the trees. He sensed a lot of movement in the house, but knew it was just because they were settling in. He could feel the anger that boiled inside her. Frustration and regret slithering like a snake within her heart. It made him want to scream so loud that the Earth would split in two. He sensed her soul, as it broke slowly. And it made him die just a little bit more inside.
He needed to talk to her, needed to tell her that everything would be okay, that things were just bad now because there were bad people in this world. He wanted to hold her in his arms, cover her in his celestial limbs, stroke her golden hair and touch her warm olive skin.
It had been a long time since his skin was warm. It was because of his cold scarred heart. His skin had turned to a ghastly pale color and his lips to a dead blue. It was almost as if he was dead already, and the only thing that kept his very soul from plunging into the depths of Hell was her. He had to protect her, and stop her from making the mistakes that he had.
He then decided that he needed to be in her life, and not just as someone watching her and never being known by her. He ruminated for a few minutes, not feeling the cold ice bite into his bare feet or the wind slap his face, when the idea slammed into his mind.
Ah ha!!
He would go to school with her.
It was perfect!
He would have to control himself around her though, but he could watch over her directly and bless her with a small bit of warmth that he generated within himself. She would still be sorrowful but it would lighten the load.
He let out the load inside his back and soared into the sky. He needed to enroll into Ketchikan High School.
