A Simple Favour

I had just kissed Andrew Jamieson. Now, it wasn’t as if it was my first kiss or anything, but it might as well have been the first. As cliché as it may seem, it was like having fireworks going off when he deepened the kiss. It was as if, my body hummed with electricity. It was as if, we were passionate lovers or something close to it.

We both stood with our foreheads against each others, in the same position that we were in the first day we had crossed paths. He had his hands on the small of my back and he seemed to be taking huge breaths of air as his thumb traced circles on my back. I was content. It was a peaceful feeling that encompassed my body. One that I hadn’t felt in years, hell, I’d never felt peaceful before.

“What the hell is going on here?” A high feminine voice shrilled, breaking the serenity between Andrew and I. We both turned towards the source of the interruption and I could swear I heard Andrew growling under his breath, it sounded primal and animalistic, and yet, it was attractive.

“Leave. Now, Zara.” He growled in such a menacing voice that I felt a weird sensation taking over my body. Tingles ran along my arms and I felt goosebumps creeping up my forearm, and I was sure as hell that it wasn’t because of the chilly weather.

“No, who is this girl? Is she the reason you’re here? Tell me Andrew, what will daddy dearest think when he realizes that you’ve staked a claim on his precious only daughter?” the girl said as she glared icily at me. I know I shouldn’t feel intimidated by her, but something about her just gave off negative vibes.

She stood in front of us, her right hand on her hip as she leaned on one leg. She had the oddest shade of blue coloured eyes and they were glaring daggers at me, her perfectly straightened hair had a slight kink to it from the back, and she looked as if she had callously gotten dressed and ready. I was sure she was up to something quite the opposite virtuous just now.

“What the hell is she talking about Brit boy?” another voice interfered, this one I knew quite well. Oliver joined the scene calmly as he took his place in between the girl called Zara and Andrew, he too looked murderously angry.

“I don’t need to explain anything to you, pup” and there was that word again. Pup. It seemed weird to be calling someone a pup, I mean isn’t a pup short for a puppy?

“I think you do, you’re on my territory, and she is part of my pack, so enough of the mystery Jamieson” Oliver replied, taking a step towards Andrew as I was shoved backwards. I looked in front of me and realized the muscles in Andrew’s back were incredibly tensed, his fists clenching and unclenching. I couldn’t see his face, but I could tell he probably had the same expression on his face.

“What’s going on” I said in a whisper as I stepped in between the two men.

You know those moments in life when everything just slows down and you feel as if you’re seeing everything happening in slow motion, right in front of you? That’s how it felt right now. I don’t know if it was my off timing, or my incredibly bad luck, but the moment I stepped away from the protection Andrew was giving me, was the moment I was hit by a fist. My best friend’s fist. As I was falling onto the ground, I could see a faint glimpse of Dean. He seemed to be in shock for a moment, and just like that, it was as if a light switch went off in my head as I felt a warm pair of arms keep me from making contact with the ground.
