The Ancients were the next group of ascencients to arise after the creation of the Watchers. They were a plant and aquatic species known as the Kal' Kar. The plant life were known as Sun Bathers and the aquatic were known as Water Tamers.
A millennia before the Great Cataclysm, greed throughout the galaxy led to their races almost becoming extinct for their unique ability to produce a rare mineral called Glactinite. Glactinite was a material that could vibrate at a frequency to produce unlimited energy. Seeing their end, the Kal'Kar erected large domes around themselves for protection. After a while, the Glactinite began to harmonize with their frequency thus starting their ascension. The harmonized frequency drew the attention of the Watchers.
The Kal' Kar admired the Watchers but decided to stay close to their homeworlds, and after a few millennia, were referred to as the Ancients.
In the time of travel to the outworlds, a few joined the route. Along this route was a planet called Earth.
One Ancient went to this planet. While on this planet, he was greeted by an alien from his own system known as a Pelaxian. The Pelaxian was the Ambassador for the Farside Galaxy, specifically the Velcronian Peacekeepers. They became good friends after that. After a while it was time for the Ancient to go, but not before naming him an honorary Ancient and was recognized by the others.
Although the Pelaxian was not an ascentient, his own natural abilities allowed him to travel as they traveled, so when called to the gathering, he came with no hesitation.

The gathering of the Ancients is usually the first sign of trouble. This time it was the opposite.
A galactic war had broken out. It started off with a few easily dealt with skirmishes. Then grew out of control so quickly that no one could do anything. High council members were assassinated, armies sabotaged, and rebellions sprang up all over the place. The whole of the galaxy had become complete chaos. It finally got to the point when the Ancients had to find a solution. Normally, they would stay in seclusion and let the universe balance itself out, only helping when needed.
This time, a great disturbance drew them together.

"I have already DONE that!!" Thought said angrily as he paced back and forth in the large rectangular meeting room.
The whole room looked like a medieval castle's mess hall. Eight tall stone pillars lined the back wall from the vaulted ornamentally engraved stone doors, to the single large rectangular stone opening that served as a window on the opposite end. What would have been a long stone table, was replaced with a crystal clear platform with a greyish frame, floating 3ft off the ground surrounded by six chairs on either side and one at the front of the table facing the door.
Thought unclasped his hands from behind his back as he turned and tightly gripped the back of the Pelaxian's rounded stone chair.
"The Herion has been released," he more or less repeated in a calmer tone.
"Destiny is set and the wheel is in motion."
"I see, but something about this doesn't feel right." The Pelaxian said.
"I've been feeling the same vibes on Earth for some time now. It's stronger here though." He said as he turned halfway in his seat.
"Yes, and John, these alterations. There like the tales I've heard of before the Watchers. If this is true, then we have to convince the others to unlock the gate." Thought said, frustration edging on his blue leafy face.
"Easy my friend. No doubt I'll be able to convince the rest to unlock the gate, especially with what I see going on here. I'm surprised they haven't done it already," John said as he stood up and faced Thought.
"But that's the part that worries me. It's almost as if someone...or something...wants us to open the gate. I can't quite get a lock on what it is and I don't think it wants to be found yet, but a few years before you came to me about the gathering, I had a vision." He paused briefly as he thought about the vision.
"There is one out there that can fight this evil, but if we open the gate, we may change things for the worst." He finished as he placed his hand on Thought's shoulder.
"In this vision, does it show you who will win? Or is this one of those 'we have to let the Wheel decide' type of deals?" Thought said irritatedly, looking into John's third eye wanting to see the vision for himself.
"All I can say for now my friend is be patient. I will have to agree with the council this time, at least until I can gather some more information." John said.
They both turned as the large stone double doors opened to 8 corporal beings floating in and hovering above their seats. Slowly, each one turned into a solid body as they took their seats. John and Thought took their seats together between a humanoid brussel sprout and an entity that looked like a galaxy inside of a black glass ball with two almost cat-like eyes floating above the seat. At the head of the table sat an almost humanoid like jellyfish-looking creature. Its hair was in the form of blue seaweed like tentacles fluidly floating above it. It's glowing translucent form swayed as if in water as it spoke.
"The first council is now commenced." She spoke in an almost crystal-like voice. She closed her eyes as her luminescence began to pulsate from her leafy outstretched arms. A sphere of light emanated from her body and spread towards all the walls before dispersing, eliminating any outside elements. The stone cold room was now sealed.

"They're in." Said the cloaked figure over the hidden mic as he stepped out from the shadows. He watched as the rainbow-colored light disappeared from the cracks of the large ornamented stone door.
"Proceed to the next objective." The raspy voice responded. He pulled his hood further around him, then walked off along the dimly lit stone corridor.
