Hyun, my co-worker, knocked on the open door of my office before he intruded in and swung his leg over my desk, leaning over towards me. "Here's your green latte, beautiful."And there he goes again, never getting tired of hitting on women. I rolled my eyes at him. "Thank you and please, get your leg of my table."
"Or what, beautiful?" He smiled and leaned closer to me, making my fingers hover over the keyboard. "Doing something tomorrow night? How about a nice dinner with me?
I leaned back against my chair and crossed my arms, "Hm, let me think.. how about never."
"I knew you were going to say that." He withdraws and chuckled. "What does a guy have to do to get your attention?"
"I'm not interested in anything other than work." I told him, smiling.
"You're lying." He sends me a look. "You're not really implying that you don't think about anything else? I mean, who are we kidding here? You're a full grown woman.. who has needs and I'm here for that."
"All I need is you out of my office." I replied back and decided to call it a day. I took my purse and stood up, walking around my desk. "You're right. I do have needs but I still wouldn't go to you for that. See you after the holidays. Have a Merry Christmas."
🎄
"Finally, time to rest my eyes." I yawned and stretch my arms to place the book that I was reading on the bed side table.
I opened a packet of my favorite cookie and ate one before I went to bed. Normally, I wouldn't eat any snacks before bedtime since I'm terribly weight conscious but who cares right now. I drank a bit of wine for a good night's sleep. I tucked myself in and pulled over my lavender scented sleeping mask over my eyes.
I'm slowly falling into sleep. My body feels relaxed and my mind is just empty but, never have I expected, that in the midst of this solemn night, just minutes after I shut my eyes, four loud knocks would come at my front door and a 'Merry Christmas' from my neighbor.
"What in Satan's middle name is it now?" I shot up from my pillow then removed my sleeping mask and confronted the sleep offenders.
"Merry Christmas to you! We're Christmas caroling-" Jimin said but stopped talking when he eyed me more carefully in my pajamas and everything inside my home was dark. "Oh.. were you sleeping already?"
"Yes, already, it's f****** past bed time." I said, making Jimin cover Jungkook's uncorrupted ears.
"Kookie and I are sorry. We just wanted to wish you Merry Christmas.." Jimin replied, making me feel really bad afterwards. I'm such a mood killer.
"No, it's okay. Forget I said that. I'm sorry for being such a Grinch. And sorry Kookie for cursing." I said then rubbed my eyes gently and turned my back to them to switch on the lights. "You can come in. I didn't even put any decorations but what the hell. It's just one day, right?"
I turned to them but Jimin wasn't moving, he smiled at me and said, "No, we'll let you sleep now."
"Are you sure?" I ask again, trying to make up for my behavior but also wishing that he resist so I can go back to bed.
"Yes. I think Kookie is a bit tired too." Jimin watched the infant yawn then he looks back at me. And that was the story how I got next door.
"I really admire how you put in a lot of effort with the Christmas decorations." I said, pressing a serviet against my lips. "Thank you, it was a lovely dinner."
"Glad you enjoyed our company." Jimin replied with a smile as Jungkook now fell asleep on his shoulder with his reindeer headband falling off. Jimin stood up afterwards and excused himself, "Give me a second to lay him down in the bedroom so he can rest and we can talk comfortably."
