"Who is it?" I called out to the person ringing my doorbell."It's me and Kookie." Jimin answered. I already know it's him. I'm not even surprised. He's been trying to talk to me since he moved back and now he even brought Kookie to lure me out. That's foul play. "It's Kookie's birthday. Come on, are you really going to ignore him too?"
"Of course not. How can I ignore someone this innocent?" I told him when I opened the door, finding Kookie's big, brown eyes staring at me. Awww.
Kookie has pigtails and his cheeks are more plump and pinkish. I've always had a soft spot for him. Jimin smiled at how easily my resolve melted down in front of the adorable baby. "Want to hold him?"
And yes, my resolve has gone out the window now. I took Kookie in my arms and invited both of them in. Damn Jimin and his dirty tricks, he knew I'm weak for Kookie.
"Kookie turned two today." Jimin added.
"Oh, did you? You're quite a big boy now." I cooed at Kookie who is busy playing with the ends of my hair. I turned back to Jimin with a serious expression. "If you want to talk, you can talk now.
"I already apologized for leaving without saying anything and if you still hate me, that's fine." Jimin started, pushing his hair back. He still got that quirk of his. "I also did something I'm not supposed to do but I don't regret it.. I did a background check on your boyfriend, Jung Hoseok."
"You did what? That's illegal! You're violating his privacy." I told him, trying to keep my voice down so I wouldn't startle Kookie.
"I know that." Jimin replied, he looked straight at me. "But you have to listen to what I found out about him. I know he's also one of yoyr close friends and you probably... like him. You wouldn't date him if you didn't."
"Just get to the point." I said.
"Hoseok is married." Jimin told me and, at first, I didn't know how to process it, then I suddenly felt angry.
"That is complete bullshit." I answered, laughing to mock him. "So, this is how you're going to do it now? Ruining someone's reputation?"
"Cherrie, I'm not doing this for my own gain. I did it for you." Jimin insisted to stand on what he said. "Seokjin recognized him from the party. His wife's family has been doing business with Seokjin's family for years and he's met Hoseok in one of the family meetings."
"Enough with the lies." I raised my voice and made Kookie cry. "You lied to me before about Kookie and I believed you without a word. You left and came back like nothing happened and now you're lying to me again."
"I thought you, at least, wouldn't resort to something like this." I tried not to let my voice waver until he was gone. I pushed back my emotions. "I'm done with this, Jimin. We weren't even in a relationship but I was so hurt when you left. You say those things to me and then left me hanging. I don't think you even considered my feelings though. I don't know why you came back and why you're doing this.."
"Because I love you." Jimin spoke, taking Kookie back. "I love you. There's no other reason."
I stood there, speechless, and still doubting if I heard it right. Jimin calmed Kookie down and apologized for trying to walk back into my life again. "I won't bother you anymore. Just think about what I told you. I'm not the only one capable of lying to you, Cherrie."
"Her name is Emily Choi. Salt and sugar look the same. It's up to you if you'll believe me or not." Those were the last words he told me before he left.
I don't know what to do now with this information. Should I really look into it? But what if Hoseok really is married to that person? What if Jimin is telling the truth? Should I call Hoseok and ask him personally?
