This is awkward.I'm watching Hoseok and Jimin shaking hands right now. I should do something. What if Jimin mentions something about our previous arrangements. Wait, why will I be worried about that? I was not dating Hoseok at that time. We were only friends. But it still wouldn't be good for me if Hoseok knew how my relationship with Jimin was.
"Were you and Cherrie good friends?" Hoseok glanced at me then back at Jimin.
"Um," I was thinking of what to say. "Not really. We also only saw each other a few times like at that party for the landlord."
I could see Jimin wasn't happy about how I handled that question but he tried to smile. I put my hand on Hoseok's arm and tried to steer him away, "We need to get back to the party, Hoseok."
"Right." Hoseok agreed and faced Jimin again. "Well, it was nice seeing you here but my date and I have to get back. You're free to crash the party if you want. Just tell them I invited you."
No! Why would you invite him when I'm trying to get you two away from each other?
Jimin must have noticed my distress because he smiled while looking at me. "Thank you for the invitation but I'm afraid, I still have some work to do right now."
Hoseok placed his arm protectively behind my back as we walked away from Jimin, although I can still feel his gaze behind my back. Hoseok was saying something to me but I was preoccupied with fighting the urge to look back at Jimin. I just hope we don't cross paths with him again tonight. I really need to take Jinjoo's advice seriously and try to be happy with Hoseok. I can't keep chasing after his ghost because I already know how it will end between us.
Hoseok and I still had a fun night afterwards. We talked more with his team members. I drank a few more glasses of expensive champagne as the conversation went on and the night got deeper. Hoseok noticed how quickly I finished my fifth glass and snatched the sixth glass away from my hand.
I looked at him and smiled, "I'm still fine. It's just champagne."
"It might not kick in now but it will soon if I don't stop you." He smiled as he spoke close to my ear while the others continued talking, his breath faintly smelled of expensive champagne too. "I'm well aware of your alcohol tolerance."
"I think you're underestimating me." I also leaned close to his ear.
He whispered back. "No, I'm not." And held my chin up with his index finger and thumb, his eyes examining my face. "I can tell by looking at your face and how brave you get."
"Brave?" I chuckled. "Not true."
"I need to get you away from the alcohol." He said as he took his hand. "Want to dance with me?"
My eyes widened. "What? N-No, I don't know how to dance."
"It's okay. I'm going to lead." Hoseok egged on and pulled my hand gently, putting me on a tight spot. "I'm a pretty decent dancer."
"Hoseok, wait." I tried to talk him out of it but he was already guiding me to where people danced in pairs to a slow song.
"Just relax." Hoseok pulled me close to his frame and placed his hand on my waist while the other held mine. "It's a slow song. You can't possibly be bad at it."
I bit my lip as I tried to focus on following his feet. I was really bad at it and even stepped on his foot, "Sorry!"
He laughed. "You really have two left feet."
