This creature has been stalking about in Harper's Ferry with dates that go back as far as the 17th century when German settlers first came to the Potomac region. The creature may have been around longer than this. It's name is from loose German that describes a wail from a toothy mouth.
The accounts from the settlers state that Snarly Yow appears out of thin air, is able to change its size, and can disappear instantly. According to the legends, the beast lurks along old main roads into towns, challenging travelers along the way.
Some modern encounters are this: a man tried to shoot it only for his bullets to go through the canine. Another encounter happened to be about a woman who thought she ran it over only for her to look behind her to see the thing standing there.
It has also been encountered at Maryland, Virginia, and West Virginia at the Blue and South Mountains.
To me, I think this creature could be Native American in nature. What do you think?
