In Marion county the Monongy, a half-man, half-fish creature named by the local Native American tribes. Records of this creature go back to the French-Indian War, when British soldiers reported seeing strange aquatic beasts.
In the 1930s-1950s, a frantic search for Monongy even involved a task force from the police. No evidence was ever produced until 2003 when a fisherman took photos of the Monongy. Photos of the Monongy were briefly posted online, but were taken down as the howls of a government cover-up started.

On the show Paranormal Witness a woman was floating around with her friend on the river when something attacked her. She had a scratch on her leg and the doctor took samples of it. A few days later these men in suits came to her house and told her to be quiet about what happened. Odd huh?

While some say Monongy's existence has been covered up, others say this monster still roams the river.
