I returned to Hogwarts, alongside the rest of the students and Professor Dumbledore.
The atmosphere was tense.
Everyone was tired, agitated. But we couldn't even begin to imagine what Harry must have felt like.
I remembered the last thing Sirius had told him at the Black Manor.
"When all of this is over, we'll be a real family. You'll see."
Harry didn't succeed with murdering Bellatrix, sadly.
Voldemort appeared.
That ugly, nose-less murderer decided to turn up.
Thank Merlin, Professor Dumbledore had arrived in time to save us.
Thinking about the events that had just occurred gave me a headache. I couldn't even begin to explain how horrendous everything's been.
Filled with dread, I stepped into the common room.
It was empty, except for three people.
My mouth went dry, as they approached me. Pansy first, running up to hug me.
"Merlin's beard, are you alright? We heard what happened." She said, eyes concerned.
I shot her a feeble smile as Blaise came over to check on me as well.
Only one remained behind, features hard.
"So that's it?" Draco spoke up, tone cold. "You're going to just choose them over us? Leave with them without telling us?"
I knew he'd be angry. But I wasn't in the mood to deal with his crap.
I sighed, "Draco, I didn't have the time to tell you. Neville found me along the way, and asked for me to help. Was I supposed to decline?"
Draco narrowed his eyes, "They could've handled it on their own."
I shot him a look, "They're my friends."
"Your friends?" Draco scoffed, crossing his arms. "When have they ever been your friends? They look down upon your house, think you're just another snake. They've never been there for you. Your real friends, were just sitting in this room, worried to death, because you didn't say anything before you left."
I raised an eyebrow, "Just because you don't like them, doesn't make them any less my friends, or family. Don't make me choose between the both of you. You know I won't."
Draco laughed, the sound dark and twisted.
"Right. I guess another one of those 'friends' you loved so much, was Cedric Diggory."
As the words left his mouth, my entire being stilled.
My eyes met his in an instant, and I caught how his gaze faltered at the fury radiating from me.
"You went beyond the line," I seethed. "You have no right to talk about Cedric like that. No right. He's not yours to mourn, and you're a coward. He was twice the man you'll ever be."
With that, I left, in a hurry, for tears were pooling in my eyes, and my heart was threatening to explode.
