Chapter 23: Him

I stood in the door way of the master bedroom watching my wife get ready for tonight’s events. Her and her friends were hosting a grand opening event at their bar, Queen Bee. My wife looked damn good in her red off the shoulder dress. She didn’t need any makeup but she put on a hint of blush and eyeliner. All I wanted to do was undress her and put my head between her legs.

As I watch my my wife I couldn't help but think of the nonsense in my life. Unfortunately, Lisa’s crazy ass was on my mind. Lisa was still calling every day and boarder line harassing me. I should have never called her up that day and insisted we meet at a hotel. I don’t know what I was thinking. I wasn’t thinking like a married man that’s for sure. I can’t even explain my mind frame at that point in time. I wasn't really thinking with my head. If Shay finds out about that stupid mistake that meant nothing she would never forgive me. Instead, she’ll grill me and be ready to end our marriage again. I know I have to come clean and hope for the best. I'm hoping if she hears it from me first it would go well. I’m afraid to tell my wife about my dirty deeds. It would be worse if she heard it from Lisa, who would not tell the truth. She would try to make that baby out to be mines when she knows there is no way in hell I could be the father.

“You look sexy, “ I informed her from the doorway as she put on her diamond studs that I gave her for her birthday 3 years ago.

Shay turned and gave me the once over. “You don’t look bad yourself boo,” Shay winked.

I was shocked Shay was flirting back with me. She hasn’t really been talking to me since I told her I was moving to New York. She has barely looked at me.

“Everyone is down stairs waiting for you,” I informed her.

Shay was always the last to get ready with everything. It’s not that she's slow at getting ready, the problem is she can never make up her mind. The red dress was actually the fourth dress she put on. I liked all the others just the same but Shay found something wrong with all of them. One made her butt look small and another gave her saggy breast. That woman see’s things differently from others.

Marie ran into the bedroom and shrieked, “come on Shay we should be at the bar right now.”

It was seven at night and that’s what time Shay and her girls said they would be at the bar so they could oversee everything. Seems how Shay couldn’t make up her mind on a dress everyone else went to the bar while me, Marie, and Marie’s husband, Stevie stayed behind.

“Okay guys I’m ready,” Shay exclaimed.

“Bout damn time,” Marie said as she exited the room and I followed behind her.

By the time we got to the bar it was round seven forty five. Mary was behind the bar talking to the bartender about something and Nicole was talking to the band. Mary’s husband Cory, Vincent, Alexis, Michael, and Logan were in the VIP area already sipping on wine. Jonathon and I joined them in VIP while Marie and Shay joined Nicole at the stage.

“Hey man what you doing here?” I asked Michael.

Michael is one of my first lawyers that I hired for the firm in New York. I don’t remember giving him an invitation. I didn’t mind he was here I was just wondering how and why.

“I’m here with Nicole,” he explained.

I should have known. Nicole has been wide eyed for Michael since day one. I figured those two were trying to build a relationship. I have never seen Nicole in a steady relationship but Michael could be that one. Seems how Nicole is my sister-in-law I felt the need to warn Michael.
