Happiness finally arrived in the world of Nyla.

And it was all due to Turner, an Alpha from The United Kingdom. I smiled, as I stepped down in the ballroom. He made me smile, real and genuine smiles. He made me laugh, real, hard and snorty laughter. He had done something to me and I was truly happy. Happier than I had been in the past three years. I wasn't alone anymore, I had someone. He was my somebody.

"You look stunning, Nyla." He whispers into my ear; his accent had my knees weak. "I'd say like a goddess, but I don't want to offend mine above."

We both laugh, knowing fully well he had yet to meet his mate and he didn't want to jinx it. We walked through the crowd, nodding my head and a few bowing to me and Alpha Turner. We get handed a flute of champagne and we clink our glasses cheering to the night ahead. My best friend, Clara was mated to his best friend, Jordon. We were cheering to their happiness.

I turned to Turner and saw him freeze, as he sipped his drink. "Turner, everything alright?"

"I smell something. My wolves pacing back and forth." His head moves into the direction of what I presume is the smell.

I downed the drink, I knew what was happening. It was the same thing that happened when Natasha met Conri. Same actions, same facial expression. The man that had truly brought me happiness was going to be the death of me. He found his mate. Alpha Turner had found his mate and I was going to be left in the dust yet again. I gulped and hid the feeling and thoughts that were swimming around my head.

I followed Turner outside to the garden courtyard and found a redhead that I thought I'd never have to see. Barrett was standing beside her, trying to calm her down.

"Baby, everything's going to be fine." Barrett held her and kissed her forehead.

"Get your hands off my mate." Turner growled.

I dropped the glass flute. In all the luck I have been granted, Turner had to be mated to Rubi. The woman that not only destroyed my life but my heart.

"Back off sir, she's mine." Barrett stood up for her, something that I wished had of happened to me.

"What do you mean she's yours?" Turner looked between Rubi and Barrett.

"He's my mate." Rubi replied.

"What do you mean he's your mate?" Turner was livid and then a shadowed figure caught my attention. Leon. Kill me.

"Barrett and I marked each other three years ago because we were in love and we still are." Rubi responded firm. Although her body language said otherwise, she was nervous.

"We are bound to each other until death, by order of the Second in command." Barrett smirks at me. I was suddenly not feeling great, as my face paled and I was feeling that glass of champagne. Everything was going to change and by the looks of Turner, I was going to lose him because of her. Because of a decision I made about his future without even meeting him.

"Turner, can I talk to you?" I placed a hand on his arm to calm him. He turned to me, eyes glowing with fury over what he was seeing before him. "I can explain..."

"He was your mate, wasn't he? And that woman who is my mate is now his, a chosen. And I suppose the man standing back there is his twin." Turner point to Leon standing in the shadows who was watching this all unfold. He was watching my happiness go, my heart break again and my world crumbling.

"Yes." I said, I was holding back the tears that were dangerously close to falling out.

"Does that mean I have a death wish on me? Because I'm positively sure that was a part of your order." He was in pain. He wasn't happy with me, his eyes showed it all. Hurt, pain, rejection. He had finally met his mate and he couldn't be with her. But that's what I get for dating a wolf who had yet to meet their other half. I was destined for heartbreak the moment I saw him.
