Lucy's POV
I was in my room, looking at all the clothes that had been brought to me in the past week and a half. I had a few pairs of blue jeans, a few shirts, and some shorts. I received a pair of sneakers too because when I got here I was wearing tall brown boots.I decide to grab a pair of bootcut blue jeans and my work sneakers, along with a plain black polo, that slightly hugged my sides.
After I was finished getting dressed I turned to look at the alarm clock, to notice it was 5:00.
Holy crap! Dinner is in an hour and Mavis only knows how much Natsu can consume in one meal. I rush out the door of my room and down the long, dark hallway. Turning left when I reach the end, I end up in the kitchen. There I see that Virgo has already started. Sighing in relief, I walk up next to her to see what she's working on.
"Thanks so much for starting Virgo guess I got carried away getting ready. Sorry I'm late but I'm here now! Just tell me what to do." After I finish speaking Virgo looks at me confused.
"What are you taking about Miss Lucy? You're not suppose to help with cooking today."
"Huh? Uh why not?" I ask confused.
"Because Master Natsu invited you to have dinner with him. Your allowed to relax. Go back to your room and rest up Miss Lucy. Dinner will be ready at six."
"Well I can still help! I don't want to leave you with all his cooking Virgo! T-there's so much to do and-"
"Miss Lucy I assure you everything is fine. I can handle it just go back to your room."
"B-but-"
"No buts Miss Lucy! Go back to your room and come back at six. I'll see you then." With that she smiles and returns back to her cooking.
I turn to leave the kitchen, but feel really bad about not helping. Oh well it's not like she actually gave me a choice. However, instead of going back to my room, I turn and head towards the library.
I had been so flustered earlier about our encounter in the library, I ran out as soon as he left. I was shocked and slightly pleasantly surprised when he had asked me to forgive him, but also wary. I wasn't sure if he was lying or not, and I don't want to risk getting in trouble, so I'll just pretend I'm not scared of him for now. Maybe sometime I won't actually be scared of him, but right now I was.
I reached the throne room and made a bee-line for the door to the library, not wanting to waste any time in finding a good book. As I entered I began to wonder if Natsu would care if I took a few books to my room. It doesn't seem like he would care much, in fact I doubt he would even notice.
The door to the room is squeaky, most likely a result of not being used for a while. The room itself is swarming with dust and dirt. The dust on the tabletops was visible from where I was standing, and I'm sure that if someone were to sit down on on of the chairs or couches, dust would fly into the air. The shelves and books looked dull in color, most likely because of the dust that resided on them. The room itself was clean, it just needed a good dusting. I made sure to make a mental note to take care of that while I'm cleaning some day soon.
I walk towards the shelves full of books and look for a sign that would hopefully point me in the direction fantasy. I love fantasy books, because somehow it seems that they take me away from the world we live in. There's just so much drama to deal with in everyday life, that books seem to be a short escape for me. I smile at the few memories that decide to show themselves in my mind.
I shake my head and continue concentrating on finding a sign that says whether or not I'm in the fantasy section. I run my hands over every plaque bolted on every shelf, uncovering the letters that are covered in dust. Soon enough I find the fantasy section and I'm sure my eyes lit up like a child on Christmas. I immediately walk through, inspecting every single book, memorizing their colors, running a hand over the spines, memorizing how they feel. It feels like it's been an eternity since I've seen a real book, and I'm overfilled with joy at seeing one again.
I grab a few books that pike my interest and go to sit on one of the many dusty couches, but not before using my hand to pat it off. When I'm sure that the sea green and cream, line patterned couch is clean enough of dust I sit down and open the book. The smell of the pages waft through my nose and I close my eyes and smile. The familiarity of the smell reminds me of home. I try not to think too much about my old home life and concentrate on starting this book.
By the time I've gotten at least a fourth of the way through I suddenly question what time it was. I search for a clock, trying to find something that can give me an idea on what time it is. Anxiety slightly pushes on my chest and I decide to leave the library, completely forgetting about the books I left out.
When I walk out I search every wall for a clock and finally find one above Natsu's throne. The time reads 5:50 and I sigh in relief. I've only been late once and that was to start dinner when I first got here. I was grateful that he let it slide but he wasn't happy. I don't want to make him angry again.
I begin to make my way to the kitchen, the delicious smell of meats and steamed vegetables wafting through my nose. Desserts as well as other side savory foods filtered through as well and my mouth couldn't help but water. I was glad that I would be eating this time instead of serving, though I feel bad for Virgo though, since she cooked it all and can't consume a single bite.
I try not to think about it too much and enter the kitchen to find Virgo plating the food. I decide to help her finish since I didn't help at all to prepare dinner. I still feel bad, even though she didn't give me a choice. She slaved over the hot stoves and maybe even burned herself a few times just for this short dinner, when I could have helped. Still I'm grateful I got a break, even if it was just a small one.
"Here let me help." I state with a smile. Virgo turned towards me and smiles before shaking her head.
"No thank you Miss Lucy, I'm almost done anyways. Why don't you go sit down and join master Natsu?" She asks as she begins playing again.
"No way! I can't just leave you again. I'll at least help you carry everything out and make it a little easier on you."
"Miss Lucy it really isn't necessary. I am capable of carrying a few plates to the table."
"A few?" I say in a sarcastic tone while gesturing toward the full counter of food.
"Please, it's really not that many. Go into the dining room and make some conversation while you wait. I'm happy to be of service." She finishes with a small smile and a bow, her right hand over her heart and her left hand behind her back. I scratch the nape of my neck nervously.
"If you say so. But if you do need any help at all I'll be in the next room." I smile and head towards the door that would lead to the dining room. The room in which I would be joining my master for dinner. Gosh I really wish I could call him by his real name in person.
'I really hope this goes well'
I shake my head and begin to push through the heavy dark oak doors. Here goes nothing.
