An awkward silence hung above the two as they sat across from each other at the rectangular table. Lucy was at a loss for words for what could she say to the demon that sat before her? He had terrified her for over a week not to mention one of his other slaves beat her to a pulp and now all of the sudden he wants to be her friend? She wasn't sure what to think anymore. Although she was glad that she didn't have to live in fear for months, or was never severely punished. But it was as if she was being punished every moment of every day being kept away from her friends for so long.
She used to hang out with Levy everyday it was like a routine. They would go to a cafe in the morning, then the library after they were finished with breakfast. Later that day they would usually meet up to hang out with the rest of the gang. She couldn't do that anymore. She was too scared to try another escape plan, even though she's planned more than one already.
She sat and watched as the demon devoured his dinner, seemingly not acknowledging her presence. Although Lucy had felt the desire to eat the food earlier, as soon as she sat down her nerves kicked in and she found herself not being able to even touch it. She had been carelessly playing with the food on her plate with a fork, waiting for the pink haired male to spark conversation. She figured he had something to say since he invited her.
He continued to stuff his face until he looked up and noticed she hadn't touched a single bit of her food.
"What's wrong Luce?" He asked his mouth full of food. It was slightly muffled but not bad enough for her to not understand.
"N-nothing. Just not hungry is all." She quietly replied. He gave her a confused expression as he swallowed his food.
"Did someone do something again? I swear if anyone-"
"N-no! No one did anything. Just a little nervous is all hehe." She said as she nervously rubbed the back of her neck.
"Why? Lucy I know I haven't treated you...or anyone here the best. But I'm trying to change. And I promise you'll never see Lisanna again. She can't hurt you I made sure of it."
Lucy weakly smiled, still nervous of his reaction if she gets too comfortable. She wasn't sure if this was a trick or not so she's taking every precaution to make sure she doesn't get hurt. "Thank you master."
"Just call me Natsu!" He exclaimed with a boyish smile. Lucy smiled shyly as a small blush made its way to her cheeks.
"H-hey Natsu?" She asked shyly, still afraid to say his name even though he just said it was ok.
"Yeah?" He asked soon after, curious as to what the blonde would say.
"Why do you live alone up here? Why don't you go down and try to make friends? I'm sure everyone would love you." She carefully spoke, pausing in between sentences to make sure she didn't anger the pinkette.
He frowned nonetheless and stood from his seat, glaring down at the blonde. Immediately fear began to flow through her, and she shrunk into herself hoping not to bring herself any more attention than she already had.
Nastu however noticed her behavior and took a few deep breaths, calming the inner demon that raged to be unleashed, purely because of the memories the blonde just unfolded.
"I don't want to talk about it. I live alone for personal reasons and I don't feel the need to share them with the likes of you." He spat at the blonde. Her heart fell for him. She knew that on the inside he wasn't just a raging demon. He had made an effort to make her feel comfortable and now she may have ruined any chances of her getting out of here.
"I-I'm sorry I asked. May I be excused?" Lucy asked shakily, afraid of being punished.
The pinkette stared at her sadly, knowing he had caused her to be afraid. He mentally cursed himself for behaving so rashly with his emotions. He gently nodded his head and sat back down as he watched the blonde walk out of the dining room quickly and off to most likely her bedroom. He felt bad for the way he had acted and immediately regretted his actions, already thinking of a way he could make it up to her.
Maybe he could take her swimming or on a picnic. He didn't really know what females liked to do during their spare time and he knew there wasn't a lot for her to do around the castle. With that he was left to his thoughts, surrounded by food but no longer hungry for even one bite.

Lucy entered her room with sweat trailing down her forehead. She had figured he may not want to talk about it but she didn't think he would act like that. Not after he had been so kind to her but it should have been expected. After all he did kidnap her and make her a slave in his castle. She felt bad for even asking about the subject and wished she could take it back. Maybe then they would be enjoying the lovely dinner that Virgo had cooked for them. All that food gone to waste all because she had to open her big mouth. Although it wasn't her fault she was naturally a curious girl, she wishes she could learn to keep her mouth shut about topics she knows could be sensitive.
Heaving a sigh, the blonde brushed it off and entered her bathroom, starting the hot water and stripping naked to enter the shower. The hot water managed to calm not only her body but her mind as well. She figured she could make it up to him sometime by making him a dessert or one of his favorite foods as a surprise. As well as apologize of course.
After washing her hair and her body, she exited the shower and wrapped her hair and her body in a towel before washing her face in the sink. After completely drying off she walked into her room, still wrapped in a towel, and picked out her pajamas for the night. She settled on a white tank top and some pink shorts for the night. And quickly changed before combing out her hair.
While she combed out her hair she couldn't help but let her mind wander. She still wondered why he lived in the castle alone. She wondered how her friends would interact with him, and was sure that they would love him if he'd just open up? She wondered if he had ever even been to town, and if he had any parents or if he was an orphan? Did he have any friends that lived elsewhere? And why do all the maids and slaves talk about him like he isn't a monster? And what exactly is he.
Sure he was kind if you got to know him but he was still an interesting creature and she intended to find out what he was one way or another.
And with newfound determination, she climbed into her bed and turned on her alarm clock so she would wake up on time. She soon dozed off into a dreamless slumber, awaiting the morning to arrive.

Natsu sat in his room conflicted with his emotions. He wanted to be kind to the girl of course, but it was so hard to when he was cruel to everyone else he wasn't close with. He didn't want to make her do chores, but if he stopped, everyone would think she was getting special treatment, which technically she would be and he didn't want to taint his reputation. Even if it was inside his own castle. The pinkette groaned and fell back onto his bed. His pink hair was wet and fell over his closed eyes and he was naked from the waist up, only wearing a pair of loose red pajama shorts and the scale like scarf wrapped around his neck as always.
His head hurt from all of the thinking he was doing and it irritated him. He had never felt this way about anyone before, let alone a girl that he had kidnapped and taken into his castle. Sure there was Lisanna but she was just a friends with benefits kind of thing and he was getting tired of her whiny attitude anyways.
It was as if he couldn't get away from her. Wherever he was, she was there too and all he wanted was a little space to himself. But he didn't want it either. He wanted her around he didn't want her to leave. When she tried escaping he panicked. It was as if they had some sort of invisible connection and he didn't know why. But he was determined to find out. And the best way to start was to be as kind and gentle as possible.
With that thought in mind Natsu climbed into his bed and fell into a peaceful sleep, ready to face a new day.
