It's really windy today, and apparently everyone is off today because the streets are really busy. I hold on tight to my books in my hands as I'm running through the streets trying to catch my bus.I'm gonna be late to my shift at the diner, I was in the library studying and I lost track of time. I rush into the bus and as soon as I do he closes the doors. I head to the back of the bus to find a seat, I'm breathing really hard and coughing, I ran really far.
Fuck I'm out of shape
About an hour later, I get off on my stop and run to the diner that's about five minutes away. As soon as I'm rounding the corner to the diner I smack into someone hard. I fall on my back hard and my books go flying everywhere.
"Oh shit, this is not the way I had planned to see you again. You ok? Let me help you" He says.
I look up and see Ink, damn he was the one I ran into. He begins to help me up and manages to pick up my books.
"You haven't said anything, So I'm gonna take you inside ok."
I just nod. Speak stupid he's speaking to you.
"Hi honey, you made it just on time. Who is this?" Maggie asks smiling at me.
"Hi I'm Ink, I accidentally ran into Cassandra outside and she fell on her back."
"Nice to meet you, I'm Maggie the owner of the diner, have a seat honey I'll get you some water."
He then turns to look at me, we stare at each other for what feels like forever until I look away, he's so intimidating. All of a sudden he grabs my chin making me look at him.
"Why haven't you called me? I left you my number with your friend and I'm sure she gave it to you."
"Umm.... I don't know."
He smiles at me. "You do know Cassandra, just go ahead and tell me. Why didn't you call or even text me?"
It had been a couple of days since Melissa gave me his number, but in all honesty I just didn't have the balls to do anything about it."I just didn't know what to say."
He just continues to stare at me not saying anything until Maggie comes back.
"Here is your water honey, you can start your shift when you're ready."
"Thank you."
I take a sip of my water and then begin to grab my things. He's just staring at me making me feel uncomfortable.
"I have to start my shift, so I guess I'll see you around" I smile at him but he's just looking at me.
"Maggie, Does Cassandra work tomorrow?" Ink asks.
"No she doesn't, she's off Sunday and Mondays."
Then he turns and looks at me.
"I'll pick you up tomorrow night at eight for our date."
"What? I don't think thats a good idea."
"Well I think that's a great idea, I'll make sure she's here and ready" Maggie says.
"Alright I'll see you tomorrow night." Then he bends down and kisses my cheek leaving me stunned.
He walks out the diner leaving me there frozen, not knowing what to say or do. Then it hits me, I have a date, my first date with Ink.
"What the hell Maggie, why would you do that? I don't want to go."
"Don't judge a book by it's cover, give him a chance honey, he seems like a nice guy."
I walk away from her and begin to put my things away. I put on my apron and begin my shift, But the only thing I can think about is that tomorrow night is my first official date and I'm so nervous that I'm already sweating.
