3 years later.....

Today is the day, I finally get to leave this place. Today I turn eighteen, it's my birthday. Well it's the day I chose, when they had asked me my birthdate I couldn't remember what it was, so I just made one up. I've been living in this foster home for three years now. I've had some trouble with some of the other kids here but nothing too serious. It's way better than being in that warehouse anyway.

It's been three years since I have escaped and I still tend to always look over my shoulder, I'm still afraid of being caught, and I have nightmares sometimes. Im less paranoid now, but I always have to be on alert.

I started school as soon as I entered the foster home, but I had to be homeschooled since I wasnt at everyone else's level....yet, But I was a quick learner. I wasnt able to graduate with everyone, however I will recieve my diploma after the summer as soon as I finish up my last two classes.

I've been living here in Boston for three years and I love it here, it feels like home. I found a job at a diner, it's called Maggie's. The owner Maggie is really sweet, as soon as she heard me ask for a job, she hired me on the spot. I've been working there for a month now and I have to say that I like it.

Maggie and the rest of the staff treat me like family. Maggie also lives in the apartment above the diner with her daughter Melissa, she's my age. Maggie offered me a chance to stay at her place until I can find a place of my own.

As I'm packing my bags, I can't help but to think about all the memories I have of this place, it wasn't the best, but it definitely wasn't the worst. I head downstairs and begin to say my goodbyes. I see Ms. Dawson standing there with a smile, I hug and thank her. She really helped me out alot with schooling and she introduced me to Maggie. I begin to head outside the house and take the bus to the diner.

As I head inside the diner I'm greeted by Maggie.

"Hi honey, go ahead and make yourself at home upstairs, Im gonna need you for the night shift today, so go ahead and rest. Happy Birthday by the way" she smiles and begins to hug me.

"Thank you so much Maggie, I really appreciate it. Don't worry I'll be here tonight."

I make my way upstairs and head up to my room, I lay on the bed and rest until it's time for my shift.

A few hours later.....

"Hey Maggie, Im ready for my shift."

"Alright guys, closing shift will be Cassandra on tables 1,3 and 5. Melissa will take tables 2,4 and 6. Sean take tables 7,8,9 and 10. Let's get started!"

I smile at everyone Melissa and Sean are my favorite people to work with. I put on my apron and begin to get to work. I begin to wipe down tables, take orders, serve the food and make drinks.

After a couple of hours I begin to make coffee when suddenly I hear a loud noise outside, a rumbling of engines...... motorcycles.

Then I hear the door open when the bell above the door rings, signaling a new customer. When I glance at the door my eyes connect with a pair of green eyes staring right at me.
