Cassandra's POV....

It's a beautiful day today, clear skies, and the sun is shining bright. It feels really good against my skin. I'm currently at the park with Ink, we are having a picnic. I'm laying down against him on the blanket when a thought occurs to me.

Ink and I have been on several dates since the day of the bbq. It's been a couple of weeks now and everything has been going great. We try to spend as much time as we can together. He picks me up from school, takes me out for lunch, and we even spend time with his brothers at the Compound.

"Hey Ink, What am I to you?" I ask him while looking down, not having the guts to look at him in the eyes.

"What do you mean?"

"Well we've been dating for awhile now and I just wanted to know what I am to you. You always say I'm your girl, but you have never asked me to be your girlfriend."

"Well I thought It was implied. I guess I never really thought about labels before. I've never had a girlfriend before so it's all kind of new to me. I guess I never asked you, would you like for me to ask you to be my girlfriend?"

I nod my head, feeling a little silly about what I'm asking him to do.

"Ok, Cassandra Maldonado I would be deeply honored if you accept to be my girlfriend?" He laughs and I laugh with him.

"Yes I accept." We seal the deal with a kiss.

  A few hours later.....

Flashback.....

I'm huddled in the corner of the warehouse, today is inspection day. They line up everybody and start inspecting us for any illness, diseases or pregnancy. We are all malnourished but some more than others. They rape most of the women here and when they become pregnant they kill them. If they find something wrong with you, you are killed on sight.

"Alright listen up everyone get in a single file line, Emilio start the inspection."

The guy Emilio I've never seen before. He's tall and strong looking. He has brown eyes and dark brown hair that is slicked back. He looks older, maybe late twenties.

I see him drag out a girl out of line, she's skin and bones. Shes to weak to stand up. He continues through the line until his eyes land on me. He stares at me for a couple of seconds before he begins to analyze me. He moves the hair out of my face and begins to caress my cheek. He then lifts up my shirt and runs his hands all over my body. I stand there frozen with tears in my eyes, but I can't do anything about it.

You're beautiful he whispers to me.

He then continues through the line and stops at a girl with her hands on her stomach. He pulls her out of line while she begins to scream.

"Please don't kill me, it's not my fault. Please help me, let me go."

"Enough! You both are not strong enough to keep making runs anymore. You're both useless now, just a waste of space, Sorry." Emilio tells them.

I see Emilio take out his gun and shoot them both in the head, he then calls two other guys to drag the bodies away. Emilio then turns to me and smiles.

I wake up startled, it's just a dream I repeat to myself. I haven't had dreams about that place or him in a while. I don't want to remember, I want to forget. After that day I became Emilio's obsession, he took every opportunity to touch me. He didn't force himself on me until the very end. Guilt sometimes eats away at me for killing him but it was self-defense.

I glance at my phone and its 5 p.m. my shift starts in 30 minutes. I take a quick shower and begin to comb my hair, then i head downstairs toward the diner.

Two hours into my shift, while I carry the plates to table 5, the t.v. in the corner of the diner catches my attention:

   Breaking News:

Emilio Ramirez who is known to be a soldier for the Galindo cartel has been spotted here in the city of Boston. Because of his connections to the Cartel he is considered to be armed and dangerous. If you have any information on his whereabouts please dont hesitate to contact the police.

The diner is silent the only thing I can hear is my racing heart and the sound of breaking dishes that fall out of my hands.

Emilio, he's alive.

I do the only thing I can think of and run.
