"So, Beatrice, how's your mom?" Carol asks as she refills my milkshake.

"Still strict but she's good." I answer with a smile.

"And Caleb and your dad?"

"Good. Caleb just got a job at someplace. I'm not sure where. And my father, he is doing great. He just got on a big case." I answer with a smile.

"Excuse me, can I get another order of fries." The guy from the park, walks up next to me at the bar.

"Yes, more ketchup?" Carol asks.

"No. Just the fries." He says.

"What's that?" He points at my notebook that is placed in front of me. "A diary?"

"Um no. I write poems." I answer after I clear my throat.

"Here you go, To.." Carol clears her throat, "Four."

"Four? Four like the number?" Christina asks from behind me.

"Yeah, like the number." He walks off.

That must be like a nickname. I doubt a parent would ever name their child 'Four'. What is his real name?

"Hey, I gotta go. I'll see you guys at school tomorrow." I say with a smile. I hug Christina and Will and walk out after paying Carol for my meal.

I swing my backpack on after I pull my ear buds out. I plug them into my phone and I look through my song list, looking for a good song to play. I select an old song and I put my phone in my back pocket.

"Hey hun, do you need a ride?" Carol pulls up in her car in front of me.

"Yes, please." I enter her black challenger.

"Library again?" She chuckles. I nod with red cheeks.

She drives me to the library all the time. Well when ever I go to the Diner, that is.

When we arrive I quickly hug Carol and run into the library. I walk to the chairs and quickly sit down. I have 5 minutes or so until my mother texts me and tells me that she is waiting for me outside.

I look around. My eyes catch Al. Al used to be one of my best friends. That is until he stabbed me in the back in 8th grade. The whole time I told him private things he would tell other people. I only know that because Peter would tease me about it.

I quickly look down at me phone and it vibrates in my palm. It's a text from my mother.

Beatrice, I am here out in front. The texts reads.

I quickly grab my backpack and swing it around my back. I power walk out the front door and to my mothers car.

"How did the studying go tonight?" My mother asks as I enter the black 2014 Range Rover.

"Great. We covered the First World War." I say with a smile as she drives away from my second home.

"First World War?" She makes a left hand turn into our street. "Didn't you learn that in like 7th grade?"

"Yes mother. But because this is going to be the second week of school, we are reviewing everything from middle school to last year." I answer as she pulls into the drive way on the left of our house.

"Oh." She smiles and we exit the car. The moment we enter the two storied house, I immediately walk up to my bedroom.

My bedroom is the second biggest in the house. It's first my parents room, then my room, then Caleb's, then the guest bedroom. My bedroom walls are freshly painted white with a quote just above the window that is in front of my bed. It reads:

"Be the change you wish to see in the world"

My bed is a queen size. I have a small writing desk that sits in front of my window, that's where I do most if my writing, reading, and drawing. On the left to my desk, I have a small dresser and then a closet on the left wall.

I set my backpack down onto my bed and change out of my shorts and into my pj shorts. I take out my contacts and replace them with my glasses. I start my physics homework and I hear my brothers loud music playing. One of my favorite songs is on; 'Heartbeat' by Childish Gambino.

Hey, we are going out tonight. Wanna join? Christina's text reads

Who is we? I reply.

Will, and Me :)

Uh, no thanks. I reply.

Oh come on. Why not??

Because I always end up a third wheel and I need to really study. I type with a huff.

Oh, okay :( See you tomorrow at school, right?

Yeah, have fun tonight. I set my phone down on the small night stand that sits next to my bed.

"Hey Beatrice, Dad is home." Caleb walks into my room.

"I'll be down there in a minute." I say. Caleb walks out and leaves the door open. He knows that leaving my door open drives me insane and will make me get up.

I stand up and walk out of my room and down the stairs. I walk from the bottom of the stairs, and to the kitchen. I see my father sitting on a chair at the dinner table. I smile at my mother.

"Hey Dad!" I hug him tightly.

"Hey, Beatrice." I cringe at the sound of my name.

I'm not sure why I don't like my name but when I hear it I cringe. I guess it sounds to..ugh what's the word..ah, stiff.

"How was the library?" My father asks.

"Great." I smile. "I'm going to be skipping dinner tonight, if that is alright mother."

"Yes of course." She smiles. As I turn around, I replace the fake smile with nothing. I walk up the stairs and to the big bookshelf that holds all my favorite books that I have already read in the past. I pull 'Before I Fall' by Lauren Oliver and walk into my room.

The sun is barely out still, so I turn the light switch off and sit by my window. I am on chapter 7 and I have 41 more pages to go. I am currently on the part where Sam is in Mr.Daimler class room, minutes before class starts and she is flirtatiously teasing him about not having a date on 'Cupid's Day'.

I absolutely love this book! I love how Lauren Oliver write period. I am interrupted by my phone ringing.

"Hello?" I smile even though I know no one can actually see me.

"Hey, Bea. It's Uriah, Zeke's little brother. We are hanging out with Christina and Will. Wanna come join us?" Uriah says and I can practically hear his smile.

"Uh," I lock my door, "Yeah, Where are you guys?" I slip into a clean pair of tight jeans and a crop top.

"We are at the pier. We will pick you up."

"No, don't do that. Just, uh, pick me up at school." I whisper due to hearing my parents laughing down the hall in front of my door.

"Okay. See you there. Bye."

"Bye."
