I was lying in a dark room so pitch black I couldn’t see anything. I must’ve woke up early. I tried to close my eyes but somehow I couldn’t; A chill went down my spine as a delicate whisper sounded in my ear. “Why did you let me die?” I threw the sheets off and sprung out of my bed. A blast of cold air hit me knocking me down with a thud. My view changed, now I could see. I was surrounded by a grey looking mist. It felt like i was inside a thundercloud. Whispers surrounded me that sounded human. Confusion, anger, fear, I felt their emotion running through me. Where am I? What is this place? I don’t understand…. The mist swirled around forming a human like appearance. A woman stood before me outstretching her arms as if shielding me from something. What made me the most uneasy was her eyes. They were gripped with fear. The mouth moved with no sound. I heard a loud thunk of metal crushing bone. The woman collapsed soaked in blood. Her corpse laid before me. Blood oozed from her skin and stained her clothes. “NO NO NO STOP IT! STOP IT NOW! What the hell is going on!? I jumped awake in cold sweat. It was a just a dream, just a stupid dream. Who was that woman? I don’t understand. I thought these nightmares had stopped. I put my feet on the floor just to make sure i was actually awake. “Okay, i’m good now.” The morning sunlight seeped through the window. I can’t believe this, I’m almost 19 now and i’m still having nightmares. The strange woman’s words were burned in the back of my mind. Why did you let me die? What did that mean. I’m going to have to consult with Mordem on this. He could know what it means. My whole body ached from the folly that happened yesterday. “I can’t believe i risked my life for a few measly gold coins” I muttered. These coins must be really special. I needed to go see Drake today I’m badly in need of money. I paid Mrs. Annette everything i had. I wasn’t thinking and the quickest way to end a fight is through gold. The next few minutes went by fast andi was now in the middle of the city of Hadensburg. Mrs. Annette seemed in a much better mood than yesterday she even gave me some of my gold back! She said she was overpaid and though i didn’t act like it i was overjoyed. I wasn’t completely broke now. Unlike last night the streets were bursting with life. Farmers pushed carts filled with wheat and passed by on the cobblestone and a few drunken men were singing a old bards tale. One woman stooped on the ground pumping water into her bucket, She glared at me with her dirty face and went back to work. Most people in the city didn’t know i was a Necromancer. Good thing too as Witchcraft is punishable by death. The few who knew of my skills I trusted. Mrs. Annette knew from the beginning as my mother was a childhood friend of hers. Annette was like a second mother to me and I trusted her. Then there is Drake, he’s a merchant in the weapons business, employed by the military. He uses my skills and makes me do the dirty work. He made me risk my life just for a few dirty gold coins. That tells you all you need to know about him. As much as I tried over the years my low profile didn’t hold out for long. Drake found out when he saw the cursed seal on my back. Luckily he told me he hates the government just as much as I do and never told anyone. After winding my way through the maze like city I found myself at the entrance of Drake’s Blacksmith shop. If you didn’t know about it its very easy to miss. A small wooden shack with bars on the windows made it very ominous looking. There is no indication that its a store except a small wooden sign hanging on rusty chains with faded and peeling letters that read, “DRAKE’S” and under in smaller letters it said “the finest iron and steel tools Hadensburg.” I walked in and found a short man by the name of Drake sitting on a small wooden stool looking over blueprints. He turned around to face me with his crazed look and dark complexion. His goggles went over his eyes and he smiled revealing crooked teeth with a single gold tooth. “Aye well if it isn’t meh boy Nazzy! How is life treatin ya?” I forced a smile “Hello Drake, long time no see.” Draked spoke loudly “ Well why the heck are yeh here speak up I don’t got ull day!” “ Here’s the gold you requested, its pure just like you wanted.” Drake eyed it suspiciously before taking it from my hand and biting down. He took it out and grinned, “Aye yes its pure, good thing to if it wasn’t i woudda had teh kill ya.” I stared him down expressionless. “Hahahaha i’m just joking mate.” He got up from his stool and went into the back room. The heat from inside was warm and comforting. Shortly after Drake came out. With some more gold pieces. He put three gold coins on the table. “Heres da pay” “What we agreed on half!” he looked around and grabbed a small dagger from the ground and put it on the table. “Here ya go this thingy should get you the rest!” “ I don’t want a old dagger I want gold!” Drake furrowed his brow “Well I can’t help you I need da money.” I stood up as my rage boiled over. “SO DO I YOU LITTLE-” A piercing shriek could be heard from outside the shack. The sound of swords clashing made both of us turn around to look outside
