"Bye, Bee!", I said as she got out of the car. We had just left the mall and I was dropping her off at the hotel she and Jordan were staying at.

"Bye! Let me know how things go!", she said.

"I will!", I replied and drove away. Zach had texted me that he and Jordan were back at his apartment. Once I got there, I would give them my answer. I was hoping it wouldn't hurt Zach very much, but he had to understand that we were just meant to be friends.

After a lengthy ride, I eventually made it to the apartment complex and pulled into a parking lot. I climbed the five flight of stairs and actually didn't almost die of exhaustion this time. I walked down the hall and got to Zach's door. I sighed deeply. How was this going to go?

I finally found enough courage to knock on the door three times. When it opened, I see a blank-faced Zach.

"Hi, Zach.", I said.

"Oh, uh, hey.", he said.

"Can I come in?", I asked slowly, giggling.

"Oh, yea sure. Sorry, I'm so out of it.", he said.

"That's fine. I've been thinking a lot, too.", I said.

I walked in and saw Jordan on the couch, watching some TV show. I went to the pantry and grabbed a bag of chips. I sat next to but comfortably away from Jordan.

"You can sit closer. I'm not going to bite.", he said, chuckling.

"But you will call me a whore without letting me explain.", I mumbled, and quickly covered my mouth. Oh my god, did I just say that aloud?

"What was that?", Jordan asked. Shit, he heard.

"N-nothing. Let's just watch these guys cook.", I said, pointing to the TV.

"Uh, okay?", he half said, half asked. Zach sits on the other side of me. God, can this get any more awkward?

"Uh, I've made up my mind. I think, anyway.", I said. I stood up and faced them.

"Yea? Who do you pick?", Jordan asked.

I needed to think about this. Jordan called me a whore and ran off with the girl who he swore out of his life! I couldn't blame Bee, though, we're friends now.

But Zach was like a brother to me, and sure our kisses our great, but I wouldn't lock lips with a sibling!

"Um, uh, I don't know... Zach.", I said. Kissing my "brother" would be weird at first, but I couldn't get with the guy that called me a slut.

"Yea, about that, Melanie. I don't think I'd be able to date you knowing that this decision was so hard. I don't think I'd be able to spend the rest of my life with you knowing that you love him, too.", Zach said. Well, shit. He had a point.

I looked at Jordan, and he starts talking too.

"Sorry, but I can't take you back for the same reasons. You love us both, I guess you really are a whore.", he said calmly.

"Are you fucking kidding me? A whore hooks up a different guy every week. I'm a virgin, and my heart being confused doesn't make me a slut.", I screamed.

"And you asked me to take you back, not the other way around. And what was up with that, anyway?", I finished.

"I actually just wanted to take you back to get rid of Bee. She's so annoying.", he said.

Oh my god.

This son of a bitch.

"I've got three things for you Jordan. First, Bee is my friend and you are not going to talk about her like that. Second, you are sick, trying to get back with me to hurt her. Third, fuck you.", I said and gave him my middle finger. I didn't usually act like this, and Zach was just looking at us with his jaw dropped.

"Whatever, darling, your words don't hurt.", he said, giving me the middle finger back.

"Melanie, can I talk to you for a moment?", Zach asked, sounding a bit nervous.

"Of course, Zach.", I said, giving him a smile.

We walked out the front door and he started talking.

"Melanie, I'm sorry I said what I did, I just, thi-", he started, but I interrupt.med

"It's fine, Zach. I feel the same way. Kissing my brother is weird.", I said, giggling and lightly punching his arm.

"Yea, I could never kiss my sister. Thank you for understanding.", he said, pulling me in for a hug.

"You're welcome. Let's just forget about it and be best friends forever.", I said into his shoulder.

"That's sounds awesome."

"So, what do we do about Jordan? He's being such a douche."

"Yeah, I say we tell him to get his stupid ass out of Toronto."

"Nice."

Zach opened the door and blew up on Jordan.

"You have no right to talk to Melanie like that and to talk about Bee in that way. You have been nothing but a pain in the ass since you've come to Toronto, so I suggest you book your flight back home."

Jordan said nothing and just got up and left.

Me and Zach just crash on the sofa next to each other, and I rest my head on his shoulder.

"I wish I was dreaming, because reality is a pile of crap right now.", I frowned.

"Don't worry, before you know it you'll be back in a happy place of mind."

"I hope you're right."

"Of course I'm right, I'm a robot!"

"Nah, you're pretty stupid."

"Yea, it was stupid of me to be your friend."

"That was cold."

"You're amazing Melanie, you know that?"

"No, I'm not. I'm just a girl stuck in her dreams."

"You're perfect."

"Thank you."

Lifee wasn't perfect, but it never would be. It was exactly what it needed to be. Life was making me happy, not the dreams I had at night. And for that, I have retired my job as professional dreamer.

That's right, I've got my head out of the clouds, and I'm going to actually live my life.

I'm done over-excessively dreaming.
