After school was out dad and I went home and got ready to go out to eat. I put on my sparkly red dress and put my hair down and curled some ringlets in it. I put my mom's opal necklace on and some black flats. Dad wore a nice black pair of slacks and a nice red dress shirt.
I asked dad where we were going and he said it was a surprise. We ended up at Olive Garden. Dad and I both ordered the Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo and peach tea. I had the triple chocolate mousse cake and he had tirimusu for desert. After we were done, dad paid the bill and we left. We went to the park which had some walking trails by the water. We just took a casual stroll until we got to the little bridge. That was when dad stopped.

Dad " This is the very spot that I proposed to your mom. We were both young and in love. I knew there was no one else for me. I woke up thinking about her and she was my last thought when I went to bed. I could imagine the rest of my life with her. I knew I wanted to raise kids with her. What I could never imagine is how proud I would be of you. You lost your mom at a young age, yet you do so well academically. Of course you get into some trouble and have some anger issues but who wouldn't? I love you and I love being your dad. I never want to see you hurt. I know you think some of my rules are strict but it's because I care about you and when I see you hurting and I can't do anything about it I feel helpless. I love you so much DJ. "

He pulls out a box and opens it and inside is a ring with a heart shaped diamond and on one side of the band is my birthstone and on the other side is his and moms(same month). It is gorgeous.

Dad "I got this ring for you awhile back but was waiting for perfect time to give it to you. I decided that that is now. This ring is my promise to you to always love you and be there for you no matter what. I might get upset but in the end I will always forgive you and I will always support you. I love you."

I was bawling.
Me "Daddy I love you too. So much. I appreciate everything you have ever done for me. Thank you. You're the best. "

We hugged and then I put the ring on and we went back to the car
