My Name Is Rei Kurosaki

Pain....suffering...Torture...Loss...despair...Murder...death...

Those were the only things that I've ever known since I was a child. I was the only daughter of the Kurosaki household and I had everything. A loving and caring Mother and a brave, strong Father who would look out for their daughter and a place that I once called home but...all of that came crashing down, like a building that's being destroyed by an earthquake. My story had both, a happy and a sad beginning.

The happy beginning of my story was when I spent my days with my parents...

Flashback...

REI'S POV (Eight years old)

My parents and I were at the amusement that recently opened and my Father carried me on his shoulders. I looked at the rides and I wanted to ride all of them, except for the scarier rides since I was too small and I was scared of heights. Father always told me to be brave when it came to the faster and scarier rides and that was how I came over my fear of heights.

Afterwards, Mom bought me some sweets and some treats for being a good girl. As it got dark, Dad carried me on his back since I was tired from running around wanting to try different food and trying out different rides.

"She's not too heavy for you, dear?"

"Nope, she's light as a feather."

I smiled as I nuzzled my head against Dad's back, wishing this day wouldn't end.

I was a happy girl back then, I had it all....but, my happiness was soon to come to an end, a tragic end...

I yawned after we got home and then Mom said to me.

"Come on, honey, let's get you to bed."

"Hai, Okaa-san."

I said with a smile and then Dad gently placed me on the ground and I headed to my room to get ready for bed. Once I got changed into my pyjamas, I suddenly heard a crash followed by a loud bang and Mom screaming. I rushed to see what was going on and to my horror, I saw a man standing near my dad but, he wasn't moving. Mom was in shock and she was crying as she held Dad's lifeless body close to her. I ran over to her and Dad didn't move and he didn't open his eyes no matter how many times Mom begged him to wake up.

I couldn't understand what was going on until the man pointed his gun at me. The man smirked at me and he said to me.

"Say goodnight kid!"

"No!!!"

Mom hugged me close and then she carried me upstairs as she ran while the man started shooting his gun. Mom took me to her room and then she closed and locked the door. Mom opened her closet and she shoves me inside of it.

"Okaa-san!"

"Shh!!"

Mom hushed me and then the man started kicking and yelling at her to open the door. Mom looked at me and she smiled sadly at me before kissing the top of my head.

"Listen to me Rei, no matter what happens, I will always love you...my baby girl, I wish I was brave and strong like your father, he took a bullet for me when that murderer forced himself into the house..."

Mom said as tears to fall out of her eyes.

"Until help comes, stay in here...be safe and live a good life, Rei."
