So this chapter was way longer than I expected, maybe because I combined to chapter ideas but oh well.
Enjoy!
---------------------------------------
Seven years later....
Mark was now 22 years old. He was in his senior year of college. Of course Mark was ambitious so he had a part time job as a model.
He doesn't really talk to his mother since he moved out into his own apartment. Come to think of it he was always unresponsive after... Jackson left.
After college he planned to become a full time model (with another part time job). He would get married and have kids. He hoped to have a happy life in the near future.
Knock knock
Mark was confused. He was finishing up some college work and trying to find a new photographer because his old one quit and he wasn't expecting anyone.
He got up and went to his front door. He brushed his shirt and fixed his hair knowing he probably looked homeless. He had been staying up late at night trying to complete work and it was tiring.
He gasped when he opened the door.
"M-mom?"
"Can I come in?"
"Uh.. Sure. Make yourself at home?"
Emily walked in and sat on his two seated couch. Mark went and brought her a glass of water making her smile.
"I've taught you well."
Her face quickly dropped. "Mark, I'm really sorry. For never explaining anything. Why your father and I divorced. Why Jackson left or anything."
Mark sat next to her, leaning on her shoulder. "It's okay mom. I'm over it..." he mumbled.
"No your not. I know you still think about Jackson. I know you do."
She was right. Every now and then Mark would think about Jackson and what they could have been....It was sad, he thought, thinking about a boy from over 7 years ago.
"Can I tell you something? I won't make you promise to not hate me because I know that's something....sacred to you."
Mark nodded.
"Well, 6 years ago... When you were 16. I saw Jackson."
Mark jolted up.
"He was in the grocery with his mom. He saw me too." Emily whispered.
"He asked about you. Where you were. What you were doing. How you were. And all I said was home, nothing and fine." She looked at the ceiling.
"He... gave me his new phone number. He said to give it to you. Maybe you could talk again but I never did." She looked down.
Mark was on the verge of tears. How could his mother, his own mother do this to him. She took away his father. She took away her best friend. What else could she take?
Emily then handed Mark an old piece of paper with numbers on it. "I know it's too late but I thought that you'd like to have it."
Mark stared at the paper in his lap that was slowly getting wet.
"I have one last thing for you before I explain everything that you should have known from the start."
She handed him another paper but when Mark looked at it he saw that it was a plane ticket.
To China.
"What?" Mark asked, his eyes widening. "I have work. I need to go to school..."
"I have all of that covered. I got you a transfer to a school in China and plus you need a new photographer right? Well I talked to your company and we found one for you. Maybe you'll bump into a special someone on the road." She winked.
Mark hit his mom playfully, smiling. A real, genuine smile.
"Thank you." he whispered as she wiped his tears.
"Now. To explain it all.... "

So next you'll understand it all hopefully and if you don't understand still or have any questions about the present or past (no questions about the future allowed) you can comment on one of the next 2 chapters.
