I stayed in the bookstore  all day up until lunch. I bought a few books and left. I wanted to just scream. I needed to get away. Out. Gone. I stopped into Luke's for a hamburger then walked down to the lake. I sat on the bridge and ate it. Thinking. This is a good place to think. I sigh and stay for a while. I check my watch and realize it's been like 4 hours. It's 6pm. Crap.
I run to my house and run inside.
"There you are! I was getting worried," my mom exclaimed.
"I know I'm sorry I just lost track of time," I said.
"Are you hungry?" She asked.
"I'm okay, tomorrow morning I'll be starved though," I grinned and kissed her cheek.
"Okay, I love you," she smiles.
"I love you too. I am really tired. I think I'm just going to go to bed," I spoke.
"Okay hun," my mom spoke.
"Okay, Bye," I fake yawned and walked upstairs.
I sat out on the roof. I hugged my knees to my chest and set my head down on them. My life went from boring to a complicated soap opera like in the blink of an eye.
"Hey," a voice spoke from behind me.
"Jess?" I asked, glancing down off of the roof.
"Are you okay?" He asked.
"Fine," I lied
"What are you doing up there?" He asked
"Dropped my keys," I rolled my eyes.
"Sure. Don't die. Rory would be pissed," he smiled.
"I won't," i replied.
"Hey," he said.
"What?" I asked
"I'm sorry bout dean. That guys a jerk, a complete jerk and you deserve better," he smiled and nodded then walked away.
Maybe he wasn't such a bad person anyway. Maybe he wouldn't hurt Rory. Maybe they would be happy together. She deserves that.
