The reading could not be going any slower. I could feel his eyes on me, and every time we had a line together, flashbacks of that night occurred.

The reading was finally over and I was halfway out the door, until I felt a familiar hand grab mine.

"Um, hi." I said.

"Hi yourself." He replied. God his eyes still had that sparkle, and he still had the same goofy smile. Snap out of it! I quickly told myself.

"Look I know we have an, interesting past, but we can't let it ruin the show." I said, a bit too quickly.

"Of course, here how about we go get some coffee, I believe we have a lot of catching up to do." He added, flashing that same smile.

"Sure." Is about all I could say.

We walked for a bit, until we found a pretty quiet Starbucks. We got our drinks and sat down.

"Well, how is life treating you?" He asked, breaking the silence.

"Well, at the moment, pretty bad. I just got a divorce, and my 4 year old is on the other side of the country." I said, looking down at where my ring used to be.

"Yeah, I've been through a divorce. It's no fun, but some things are for the best."

Damn he is so charming, and he isn't even trying.

"Look, James, nothing like what happened can ever happen again." I said, trying to not openly say it.

"Really? I distinctly remember you being very loud-"

"Shut it, I was young and hormonal."

"You were 27." He added.

"James." I said.

"Okay, I'm sorry. So how old are you now because you look hot." He said, winking.

"You can't be 43 and look hot." I replied.

"Apparently, you can."

Don't let him do this, he is trying to charm you!

"Look mister if all you're going to do is try and charm your way back info my life, you can leave." I half yelled.

Damn where did that come from.

"I think you are taking this wrong. I'm making conversation." He slyly replied.

"Look, just, don't expect me to be as gullible as I used to be." I stated.

"I like a challenge." He said.

Ugh he makes my blood boil!

"I'm not young anymore James. I'm not gonna play these games!" I said, getting up.

"I'm not asking you too, I'll see you tomorrow at the reading babe."

"Don't call me that!" I snapped.

I walked outside the shop, the cool air hitting me.

Was I too hard on him? I pondered. I reached for my phone, and a sticky note with a number was on it. I knew exactly who's number it was, and I didn't intend on using it, or maybe I did.
