A/N: sorry about the spacing on these chapters, it wont let me space out my chapters, which is really bugging me, but oh well, I'm just going to put periods in between the paragraphs, super sorry if it bugs anyone 😩

Another show came and went, and it
was starting to not be so nerve wracking. As I took my bow, James slung his arm around my shoulder and we walked off together.
"That was a great show!" I exclaimed, kissing his cheek.
"Indeed, you were perfect as usual." He replied.
"Oh hush."
"It's true! So, about that date..." He began.
"You already know the answer!" I said, "where and when?"
"Well, I can't tell you where, but I was thinking now."
"What should I wear?"
"Just dress for the weather." He replied.
.
I walked back to my dressing room and changed into a white t shirt and a gray cardigan. I sat down and scrolled through my twitter notifications, until finally there was a knock at my door.
"It's open!" I yelled.
James walked in, with a bouquet of peonies in his hand.
"James! You really didn't have to buy these." I said, shaking my head at him.
"But I did." He said, cheekily grinning.
"So, now can you finally tell me where we're going?"
"You'll find out when we get there!"
.
(Whaaaa James' pov?)
James' pov:
It was finally happening, I'm finally going to ask the woman of my dreams to marry me.
"Okay, we're here!" I said.
"Oh my gosh! This is where we went on our first date!" She said, kissing my cheek.
We walked to the same area, and sat down against a tree. I put my arm around her and she leaned in. I never wanted to get up, everything was perfect.
After we were there for a while, I felt ready to ask. I discreetly reached into my coat pocket.
Shit.
I left the ring in the car!
Idina must have noticed me fidgeting.
"Are you okay?" She asked, looking up at me.
"Oh, um, yes I'm just cold." I said.
"We can leave if you want, it's already midnight."
"Okay, sure." I said, holding out my hand.
We walked to the car and as I opened the door, the ring box fell out, but I quickly grabbed it before Idina could see.
.
Idina's POV:
We got back home pretty late, and since tomorrow was our day off we decided to stay up. I snuggled up to him, as he softly sang a song that I didn't know, but it sounded beautiful. I loved his voice, it's so relaxing, and I could listen to him sing forever. He ended the song and kissed the top of my head.
"Goodnight beautiful." He said.
"Goodnight baby." I replied, as he wrapped his arms around me.
.
The next morning I woke up at around 10. I looked over at the sleeping man next to me. I gently kissed his lips, and after a few seconds, they started kissing me back.
"Mmm, you should wake me up like that every morning." He said, his voice raspy.
I giggled and swatted his face with a pillow.
"Come on let's get up, it's our first day off!" I exclaimed, straddling him.
He pulled me down on top of him and kissed me.
"Okay, now please will you get up?" I asked, pouting.
"Fine." He said, slowly rising out of the bed.
.
After a while of just being lazy, James turned to me and said, "You know, we haven't really walked around New York in forever."
"Hmm, that does sound nice." I said.
"Wanna go now?" He asked?
"Sure." I said, getting up to get dressed.
.
We had been walking for a while now, just talking. It felt really nice just to be able to enjoy the city, and just think. James started getting fidgety, just like he had the night before, but I didn't say anything. He pulled me off to an area where there was nobody walking, and I was just about to ask why, when he took both of my hands.
"Idina, I love you, so much. You honestly have no idea. You still give me those butterflies, the same way you did 16 years ago. You've seen a side of me that no one else has ever seen. We have really been through a lot in the past two years, we have laughed, and fought, but even when we would fight, damn you still had an effect on me. You are the light of my life, well besides my son, but- anyways, I'm so in love with you, and I want to be with you, and only you, for the rest of my life. Idina Menzel, will you marry me?"
