Here I Go

That morning, James and I didn't wake up until around 10, and we didn't actually get out of bed until 11.

I lazily walked into the kitchen and stared making a pot of coffee. I hummed softly as I poured my cup. I leaned against the counter and giggled, thinking of the previous night.

James then walked in, his hair damp from his shower.
"Hey there handsome." I said, walking up to him.
"Hello cutie." He said, taking my hand.

I set my mug on the counter and wrapped my arms around his neck. His hands fell to my butt.
"Woah, watch yourself mister." I said, winking.
He smiled and kissed me.
"Oh! Sweetie, Taye is dropping Walker off today, when is Jacqueline bringing Oliver?" I asked,
"Tomorrow."
"Okay, so we will tell them about our engagement then?"
Then there was a knock at the door. I got up and fixed my tousled hair.
I opened the door, and sure enough, it was Taye.

"Mommy!" Walker yelled, hugging my legs.
"Hey baby! Did you have fun at daddy's house?" I asked.
"Mmhmm!"
"Walker, why don't you go play with James." Taye said.
"Okay!"
"Hey, Idina." Taye said.
"Yes?"
"Congratulations on your engagement." Taye said, awkwardly shifting on his feet.
"Thank you, Taye." I said, hugging him.
He told us bye, and when I turned around I smiled at Walker and James playing.

Walker ran up and clung to James leg.
"GET HIM!" Walker yelled, giggling.
I grinned evilly, and Walker and I started chasing him.
"No!" He said, in mock horror as Walker tackled him.
"Mommy! I caught the beast!"
I looked at both of them and smiled.
"Hey Walker, how about we go to the park later?"
He jumped off of James and started jumping up and down.
"Yay!" He said, running to his room.
I reached my hand out to help James up, but he pulled me down with him. We both busted out laughing for what seemed like an hour.

"I'm so s-sorry!" James said, through laughs.
"No you aren't!" I said.
Eventually we both got up and cuddled on the couch.
"You're so good with Walker, you know that?" I said.
"I like kids." He replied, shrugging.
"Really? When I first met you, you said you didn't."
"Well, once I had my own I grew to love them."
"Thats sweet."
"Yeah, and I'm sure glad I have Oliver. When my ex wife and I first got divorced I got really depressed, and he was just like, this light that always made me feel better."
I hugged him tightly.
"Awe, baby."
He hugged me back.
"But now, I have two lights, three if you count Walker, and those lights are what make my life not seem meaningless."
"Did you just quote If/Then?"
"Dork! I was trying to be deep."
I giggled at him, and he started laughing too, which turned into another fit of laughter.

Later on that night, I walked into our room.
"Walker is asleep." I said, falling onto our bed.
"I'm sure, he was running around all day." James said, playing with my hair.
I looked up at him and smiled.
"Today was so nice, I wish we could have more days like it."
"I know, but we've been so busy with If/Then, speaking of which, matinee tomorrow."
"Shit, I forgot. Don't get me wrong, I love what we do, but I just hate not seeing Walker as much."
James sighed and put an arm around me.
"I know baby, and hey, you're still an amazing mother to him."
I leaned up and kissed his cheek.
"Jacqueline texted me earlier, she is gonna drop Oli off at the theatre tomorrow."
"Alright." I said, playing with his fingers.
"I've said this already, but last night was amazing."
"You were amazing." I said, nipping at his ear.
I rolled on top of him, and he placed his hands on my waist. Right as I was lifting his shirt up, a voice called me.
"MAMA!" Walker yelled.
"I'm so sorry." I said, before kissing him and walking to Walkers room.
"What's wrong baby?" I asked.
"Mommy can you and James sing?"
"You never want to hear me sing." I said, smiling.
"Pleaseeee." He begged.
"Okay." I said, grinning ear to ear.
I called James and he came and wrapped his arms around me.
"Walker want's us to sing to him." I said.
James came around and stood by Walker.
"Alrighty bud, any song in mind?"
"No."
"How about Here I go?" I asked.
"Sure." James said, smiling.
We sang the song, quietly, and halfway through Walker was asleep.
"Oh, Here I go." We both sang.
"Goodnight baby." I whispered, and walked out the door.

Once James and I were in the hallway, I turned to him, and leaned up to his ear.
"I believe we were in the middle of something." I said, running my hand up his chest.
He picked me up bridal style, which made me giggle, and carried me to our room. I had a feeling we would be late to the theatre the next day.
