☽ Two. Pine Creek High ☽

PINE CREEK HIGH SCHOOL WAS A MEDIUM SIZED BRICK BUILDING, MUCH smaller than some high schools we had been to. Mom had us in the office.

"What are their names?" The woman at the front desk asked.

"Makya Creed and Petal Cane." Mom said and the woman began typing things into the computer. Petal stood next to me with her backpack on her shoulders. She was looking down biting her lip.

"Can you see if they can have as many classes as possible?" Mom asked and the lady nodded.

She continued typing while adjusting her glasses. "Okay, here are their schedules, we are currently in second period. The times for each period are printed out as well. One of our student guides will show them around." Mom nodded.

"Quinton will come pick you two up after school. I have an interview scheduled." And with that mom left as a boy stepped out.

"Carter this is Makya Creed and Petal Cane. Please show them around and then bring them to second period." The woman said and Carter nodded. He adjusted his shirt before walking out as we followed him.

I handed him my schedule before he showed us around the school. "You two have second lunch. That will be at 12:15. You will leave halfway into class and then return." Carter explained as he walked us to our second period which is forensic science.

"And here you are." Carter knocked on the door and the teacher opened it. "I have two new students." Carter told the teacher and he nodded.

"Thank you, Carter, come in, we were just starting our lesson." The teacher said and I looked at the schedule.

Mr. Craft. Mr. Craft smiled at us as he showed us to our seats.

"Here are your textbooks. These ones are for home and then there are ones for the classroom underneath." Mr. Craft explained and I nodded as I brought the textbook over and opened it up to the page.

And with that the first class of the day began.

I waited at the cafeteria for Petal. The one class we didn't have together happened to be fourth which is when lunch is. Soon I saw Petal coming over holding her lunchbox in her hand. I smiled at her as I came over.

"How was class?" I asked her as I found an empty part of a table to sit at.

"Alright." Petal murmured as she opened her lunchbox.

"No one was mean to you right?" I asked as she dug out the wrap, she had made herself. Petal shrugged.

"People stared and someone asked me why my hair was white. But other than that, no one really said much. They were more focused on the other new student." Petal answered and I tilted my head.

"There is another new student?" I asked and she nodded. Then she pointed over at a girl.

"That's her. Cordelia Moore. Everyone was more interested in her than they were in me. Not that I blame them. She is oddly attractive but in a frightening way." Petal murmured. Cordelia smiled as she accepted a plate before looking over.

As I made eye contact with her I understood what Petal meant. She had features that looked like they were carved of literal marble and burnt amber eyes with red hues all throughout them. She smiled as she sat down at a table full of people.

"Well at least you didn't have to deal with too many introducing questions, so that is a plus to the day." I responded with a smile at her.

"Yeah that is good." Petal smiled as she took a bite of her wrap and gave me a half smile before turning back to her food.
