why i changed the name from perspective to flaunt your growth:

perspective wasn't fitting. the story didn't relate to perspectives at all. but, i believe it shows the growth of the characters and their relationships. it also obviously fits with the main character's powers. (yes newt was the main character if that wasn't obvious.) i was searching through demeter information on google to help build his personality, and the phrase that is now the title caught my eye, and i just knew.

why were updates so staggered throughout the book?

if you didn't read my author's notes, there was clearly a lot going on. i started this book just before my first year of high school. i had sports and social anxiety to deal with constantly. i blame depression for the lack of motivation to write or do simply anything. even when i did have free time, i hadn't gotten around to getting out of bed, let alone write anything. my hip is also a factor. it triggered my depression and had been hurting like ass. i'd been so worried about the various procedures. the surgery set me back a lot in many aspects of my life. i was failing half of my classes at one point and didn't have friends. it's hard to keep up. i went through a really awful break up, homophobia from my mom, a whole change in friends, getting really sick. it's been a lot. so thank you to the loyal ones who have stuck around since the beginning, and to those who came later and decided my writing was good enough.

why percy jackson x maze runner?

rick riordan was a very big part of my childhood. all of my friends and siblings had read and loved percy jackson. in sixth grade, i read the original series in maybe a week. it gave me inspiration to read again, which was crazy because i'm very much inattentive and reading was never my strong point.
the maze runner came into my life in eighth grade. middle school was a personal hell. (not that high school is any better.) i felt alone constantly and i was honestly on the brink of doing messed up stuff. i saw the first book on a shelf and remembered when my siblings watched the movie (book one) and loved it. i had the same reaction reading it as the percy jackson series. reading was an escape for me. combining them just seemed perfect. i hope i did a good enough job.

why is newt a son of demeter?

1. choosing a godly parent for newt was the hardest of any character in this book. it took me a few days at least, while everyone else took only a small bit of research. newt is one of my favorite characters of all time. when i think of him, i think of his sacrifice and the pain and courage it must have taken him to do what he did. he always wanted what was best for the group and his friends, and he did whatever he could to provide safety and hope. according to the myths, demeter was known to nurture life, and so did newt.

2. if you remember in the first movie (and probably book as well, i can't remember), newt's role in the glade was a gardener, so it was fitting.

3. demeter is often depicted to have blonde hair and soft, caring eyes. i think that fits newt pretty well.

if you want know any other story of any character's godly parent, please let me know.

That's the end.

Unless there's another beginning...
