Must Protect (Mika Reyes & Ara Galang)

Few days later...

Mika's POV

Right now I decided to get some fresh air here in the backyard, of course a member of my protection detail is following me but it's not the one person I want following me.

I stop walking and quickly turned around I see Carol. She stops as well giving me some space.

Mika : " where's Vic? "

She looks shocked with my sudden question.

Carol : " uhm- she's in the surveillance room "

Mika : " I have not seen her for almost 3 days now and she still in the surveillance room?! "

I reply irritated.

For the past few days of not seeing her and asking every other member of her team where she is the only answer I get is 'She's in the surveillance room' and unfortunately Vic didn't show me where the surveillance room actually is all I know is it's somewhere in the house.

It gets annoying I don't know if they're lying to me or if Vic is avoiding me.

Carol : " that's where she really is "

Mika : " then why haven't I seen her take other shifts? "

She avoids eye contact as she answers me.

Carol : " sorry, Mika I can't say anything more about that "

I roll my eyes and huff in annoyance before walking back inside without waiting for her I went straight to my room.

I locked my door and flap down on my bed not really in the mood to interact with anyone except for one.

But then I saw the phone that Vic gave me and remembered what she told me about how it's directly connected to her phone.

I pick the phone up from my side table only now I see it's not like any ordinary phone. I quickly push the one button that has a green marking. It rings a few times then silence she answered the call but did not say anything.

Mika : " Vic? "

No answer.

Mika : " Vic, I know you're listening. Please. "

Again, she doesn't say anything.

Mika : " Vic, where are you? You told me you'll always be here diba? If I did something wrong just tell me. I really really want to see you please "

I don't know why but I feel emotional all of the sudden.

Oh gosh Vic, what are you doing to me.

To my disappointment she still doesn't answer.

Vic's POV

" Vic, where are you? You told me you'll always be here diba? If I did something wrong just tell me. I really really want to see you please "

I hear her spoke through the phone even though I can't see her I can hear the sadness in her voice but I decided to still not answer she finally gave up and hang up the phone.

I know avoiding her is immature and unreasonable but it's the only thing I can do about my feelings towards her now.

I can't fall for her I just can't. It'll end up as a big problem for us and for my job and most importantly for her safety. I need her safe and this is what it takes.

Few hours later...

It's around 7pm I know any minute now someone from my team will bring food for me and just on que the door opened and there Kianna is with a plate full of food and a glass of water but we were both caught by surprise when someone came from behind and pushed Kianna to the side and there she is. Mika.

Mika : " Vic "

She softly says my name as she steps in the room.

Kianna awkwardly stands by the door holding the plate and the glass of water now not-so-full because some of it got spilled when she was pushed.

I look at Kianna and Mika hesitantly.

I let out a sigh before speaking

Vic : " Kianna please give us a moment "

She quickly nodded and left closing the door.

Now, it's just us.

She walked closer to me.

I put my hand up signaling her to stop.

Vic : " Mika you should leave "

Mika : " why Vic? Ano ba ginawa ko bakit mo ako iniiwasan?! "

Vic : " you wouldn't understand "

Mika : " try me. "

Vic : " no, just go please "

Mika : " no I'm not going anywhere until you tell me why? Just why?! "

She raise her voice this time but now I see tears threatening to drop from her eyes.

Vic : " Mika, I can't. I can't fall for you. I can't be in love with you I just can't. "

I see how her face change emotion from sad/mad to shocked

Vic : " I know you probably don't feel the same way but Mika, I need time away from you so I can get over whatever I'm feeling towards you. I'm sorry "

I say with my voice cracking a bit as now I feel my emotions get the best of me.

Mika : " no you don't "

She softly replies. I look at her confused.

Mika : " you don't have to get over whatever you're feeling towards me because I feel the same "

She steps closer again but I didn't stop her this time she cups my cheeks with both hands

Mika : " Vic, it's okay- "

She tries to assure me with a smile but I cut her off

Vic : " no, no, no you don't understand we can't- I can't- no. "

I shake my head furiously while saying that and now tears are rolling down my cheeks.

Mika : " what do you mean? "

Vic : " we can't happen. I have the most important job in the world and that is keeping you safe I can't lose sight of that. I need you safe and nothing comes before that not even this "

I explained as she listens intently

Mika : " Vic, it's okay. I know you can do both. Please give us a chance don't give up on us even before we start "

She pleads looking into my eyes her hands still cupping my cheeks...

So I've realized something uhm I read my last update and I think I accidentally wrote it as an all-english chapter it's a honest mistake lol the thing is I'm currently writing an all-english story so yeah out of habit I guess 😂
