It was the final, long and dangerous stretch of your game. You had finally cleared every level, regained all of your memories, saved, upgraded, and now you were face to face with the boss.

Your name was (Y/N). You were the main protagonist of popular horror game that had recently released. People praised your game for being frightening, yet intricate, innovative, and it kept people coming back to see how everything would play out in the end.

Your game mechanics revolved around light and darkness. You were equipped with a flashlight and some batteries, and you would use concentrated beams of light from the flashlight to ward off enemies. Your creator based this mechanic off of the Fatal Frame series, where the player used a camera to exorcise ghosts.

Your story revolved around you getting separated from your friends during a thunderstorm in the forest, falling off a semi steep cliff and losing your memories. In the process of that, you and your 2 friends were spirited away to a seperate dimension, and you traverse through a lost village filled with creepy ghosts and demons. Throughout your game you would collect lost items of yours and regain your memories, all while avoiding enemies and trying to find your friends and the way out.

The last stretch of the game, the final boss, involved defeating and putting to rest the ghost of the village leader, a restless woman who wanted nothing more than revenge. You knew what you had to do. While you had her stunned with your flashlight, you walked over to her and began to recite a few lyrics you had learned earlier in your game.

"Body, blood and soul. I give myself to you. Transcend beyond this world, and I will follow. I am yours, you are mine, and we are one."

The ghost began to calm down, her screeching and yelling that she had been doing came to a halt. Your two friends, their names Jake and Kyle, watched in horror and you both began to glow. "(Y/N)! No!" Jake yelled, reaching out for you and her spirit and you began to lift into the air. You knew what was going to happen next. Glowing red flowers around you picked themselves from their binding stems, and swirled around you. It was a beautiful scene. As you both ascended into the heavens, every just suddenly stopped.

You blinked your eyes open in confusion, as the world around you faded and you were left in a familiar white void.

The game had been paused.

"Come on, really? The game was literally just about to end! You made it through the final boss, and you pause at a cutscene?!" You demanded, feeling annoyance brew inside of you. You adjusted your blue and yellow hoodie, and sighed. Guess you had to wait until the player came back and unphased. You adjusted the flower in your hair as well, much like the ones that were previously swirling around your form. You were about to take a little time to clean your glasses as well when a unfamiliar voice sounded behind you.

"Hello, (Y/N). Perfect timing, huh?"

You turned around to see a white haired boy with pointy ears, red eyes and armor on behind you. You were a bit startled, to say the very least. "Who the hell are you?" You asked. A bit rude, but hey, this unknown guy just barged into your game. "First of all, wow, rude. Second of all, my name is Corrin, from the Fire Emblem series." He said. You stopped for a moment. You've heard of that series before. Your eyes widened in amusement. "Ah, hello Mr. Corrin. What brings you, a mighty Fire Emblem representative, to my lowly game?" Corrin rolled his eyes. "Can you please cut it out, Ms. (L/N)?" You sighed, feeling kind of bad for your attitude towards this guy. "Sorry. I'm just... annoyed, is all. The game was about to finish and I was about to go on break, but no, the game just had to pause." You said. Corrin smiled at you. "It's ok. We all have our days." He said.

You smiled at him. "I suppose I haven't introduced myself. I'm (Y/N), but I assume you already knew that?" You said. Corrin nodded. "I'm here to give you a very special invitation." He said, taking out an envelope and giving it to you. "What is this? What's it for?" You ask. Corrin looks to you. "I would tell you, but wouldn't that ruin the surprise?" He motions to the envelope. "Go on, open it."

You eye the envelope and tear it open. Inside it a folded up note. You open it and read what it says.

"Dear (Y/N),

We are happy to announce that the rights for your game have been acquired, and you have been accepted into Super Smash Brothers: Ultimate!

You are a special case, since you are the first true horror game character we've ever had as a main fighter. We do have horror game characters as assist trophies, but you are a playable character. We look forward to your arrival, and seeing how you fight!

Sincerely, Master Hand         and the rest of the Smash crew."

Your eyes widened, and you wordlessly glanced up from the note to Corrin. "Excited?" He asked you, a smirk across your face. "S- Smash bros?" You stuttered out. You didn't know what to say. "So, do you think you'll be coming?" Corrin asked. You wanted to, but you felt conflicted. "I- I would love to but... what about my game? Won't the player notice I'm gone?" Corrin shook his head. "Smash brothers exists within a seperate dimension. In this dimensions no time will pass between you leaving and you returning. I can assure you, the player will not notice your departure." He said.

You smiled, your worries now thoroughly put at rest. "Well then, I can't say I have any complaints. Let's go." You said. Corrin smiled. "Follow me." He says. You do just that, and he pulls out a stone from his pocket. He mutters a few words, and a glowing blue, purple and white opens up. You gaze in awe. "After you, milady." He gestures. You hesitantly take a few steps through the portal, and white flashes in your vision, before everything goes black.
