You hissed in pain as Dark Pit kicked your gut, sending you flying backwards off the stage. You scrambled as you just barely managed to grab the edge of the stage, and hastily pulled yourself back up. The dark angel was already running in your direction, and while he prepared to launch an attack at you, you launched back with one of your own. You managed to grab his ankle, and while he was distracted for a very brief moment, you used your strength to throw him off of the stage, buying you time to run over to the food lying on the other side of the stage and quickly eat it, restoring some of your health.

You and Dark Pit were in a heated match with eachother, something you two had set up over a small, petty disagreement over a tv show or a book or something, it was hard to even recall. You had been training more recently. And doing a lot of other things. Anything to take your mind off of him.

As much as you hated to admit it, while you felt a burning love for Marth in your heart, you found it hard to approach him after the kiss. Had you two rushed it? Why couldn't you just talk to him? Did that one kiss ruin your relationship with him forever? All the thoughts racing through your mind sent cold panic through your head to your toes, and you did whatever you could to distract from it.

Occasionally, you would glance into the audience. Was he watching? Was he cheering you on, despite you not having talked to him for over a week?

You were snapped out of your thoughts when you saw a flash of colors and light appear above you. A familiar item you had yet to ever use came into existence:

The Smash Ball.

It's something that you had always been either too slow to get to before someone else did, or you had already lost your stock and were eliminated from the battle by the time it showed up. Determination flared in your body as you sprinted as fast as you could towards it. You were not letting it get away this time!

You jumped upwards, and saw Dark Pit do the same. You managed to kick him out of the way before landing a few hard shots on the smash ball, watching it shatter and your body erupt with light and power.

Dark Pit was scarcely regaining his composure on the ground, as your adrenaline filled form walked up to him. He stated up at you with defiant eyes, and you grabbed him by the collar of his toga, and released all the energy stored inside of you. This was it: you Final Smash.

The world around you two went black. For a few heartbeats, you thought that there might have been a glitch. You walked by Dark Pit, and realized he could not see you. You must be invisible to him. You smirked. If this was your final smash, being invisible to your opponent, it was terrifyingly, yet brilliantly simple and effective. You readied and attack, but stopped as you heard faint whispers, and a presence behind you. You saw Dark Pit's eyes widen, and you were morbidly curious as to what would make him so scared. You turned, and your eyes widened as well as you saw a familiar silhouette inch closer to the both of you.

The village leader, the maiden of the temple, the sufferer of pain. It was her, the final boss from your game.

You stifled fear, but realized she must be here to fight beside you, not against you as a foe. You heard the whispers grow louder as she approached. You could faintly make out what was being said.

"No more, please..."

"Over and over, again and again in my mind..."

"You said you would come back for me..."

"Why did you have to leave...?"

"It hurts..."

"Blood..."

"Like a river..."

"Sewn shut..."

"Agony..."

"In all my dreams..."

"See you again..."

"Never came back..."

"Dead..."

The whispers overlapped with eachother and you could scarcely make out the words, but you instinctively knew what she was talking about.

She had been the maiden to the shrine in the village, which meant she had almost no contact to the outside world. One day, she met a man and they instantly fell in love. He said he would look for a place for them to live together, and he would help her escape from the village. He left, and she'd waited for years. When he came back, they had hardly shared words before he was slaughtered in front of her, for trying to take her away from her duties. In an act of masochistic desperation and sadness, she sewed her eyes shut to, at best, end her own life, or to at least help her stop seeing the death of her lover in her memories. But this did not help, and over the years she was driven insane with grief and anger and towards the end of her life slaughtered the entire village, wiping them from the map.

She approached the cowering dark angel and grazed his shoulder, and you could see all of her memories flashing in his own eyes. He screamed in a mixture of pain and terror. The whispers continued to grow louder until they were deafening, and the maiden approached Dark Pit, moving in for an embrace before light engulfed you two. The last thing you heard was her, loud and clear.

"I don't want to see anymore."

And you were suddenly brought back to the stage.

You looked around. The crowd cheering had gone completely silent, leaving only a horrified silence. Your gaze flitted to Dark Pit, and you saw him on the ground. You rushed over to him to make sure he was alright. You stood above him, and checked for a pulse. His body was cold, and it was faint but there was still a pulse. The concerning thing was that it was rapid, and he seemed so scared and terrified, yet so weak and frail. You guessed if he tried to stand up he would probably fall over again.

You felt sick. What had you done? You began to panic. "S- Somebody help him! I- I think he's hurt!" You cried. Immediately, a few people rushed from the audience to check on Dark Pit. Dr. Mario, Ike, Lucina, Peach, Samus, etc. Dr. Mario examined him. "He's in shock." He said. "If we don't treat him he may die. Come on." He motioned for some of the other smashers to help move Dark Pit, and you watched as they took him through a portal straight to the infirmary.

You stood horrified as other smashers left through the portal, scowling at you or just generally being angry at you. "Nice going, (Y/N)." You heard someone mutter before leaving through the portal. Soon you were the only person left, save for one person.

Marth.

The blue haired prince didnt speak as he looked at you. He only stared at you with sad eyes. You felt too ashamed to look at him. You stared at you feet, feeling tears brim in your eyes. "Marth, I..." you could hardly finish. "I'm so sorry..." you pleaded, the tears breaking free from your eyes and streaming down your face. You got no answer from him, and you were to scared to look up at his reaction. You watched him walk to the portal entrance, pause for a brief moment, and then enter the portal, leaving you alone.

Alone.

That's how it was going to be, huh?
